Why!!!????

Oh I do the handshake too, after they sign! Dealing with *** hats I tighten up my shot group! I have on my wall in my shop a reminder of this; a 50m target and I was nailing it over and over again in the middle with my M16, reminds me to always be better, and have a tight shot group! My experience with West Pointers has mostly been positive, had one CPT that was a NASA reject and West Pointer, he was a real noob and anti-social.

LOL, I don't have anything against Westies, I have a good friend who is a retired LtC. Just seems I can pick 'em out. Knew a guy who claimed a Ranger tab and Capt. bars. He absolutely exemplified every trait I could think of. At least none of the good ones.

I don't always live up to the values I use to guide my life, but I will always apologize for those times I fall short and try to make amends for them.

I added this to my website in light of this situation. And, it seems the over riding problem with guys hiring me to do this is the total unpreparedness on the actual cost of this type of service. The TV shows, magazines do NO justice, service, etc. to the dreamers out there, they actually think they can get a total restoration for 10K! What that number is, is the amount they want to spend, what the reality is that when I get done media blasting it, the true scope of damage(s) is now known. I'm starting to get some grief from the other customer, the Ram W250, as the truck has completed all the repairs, it's assembly time, and, as I told him things would accelerate quickly thus the costs reflect this, he raises hell...I don't get it...all the more reason I did the right thing by putting this on my site:

Effective 1 July 2012 For complete jobs; disassembly, media blasting, bag/tag nuts and bolts, metal repair/replace operations, will require you deposit up-front $5,000.00 dollars. This initial money will cover the media blasting, and the supplies such as self-etch primer, epoxy primer and other associated supplies. $2,000.00 of this money will be held in reserve in a savings account to cover final costs in closing the contract, etc. This money is secured in case of the unfortunate situation(s) where customers chose to take a break from their project for any number of reasons -- and it usually ends up that I become a no-cost storage facility. This is no longer going to be accepted.

After 30 days of non-payment I will charge $25.00 a day storage fee, then, at the 60 day mark the project may be considered abandoned unless arrangements are made.

Sounds fair, you have to protect your business. I just talked to my friend who did some repairs to the window of an old truck that was rusty. That was 2k right there. He just raised his hourly rate from 50 to 65. He makes more parts for cars rather than car projects. He has a steady demand for parts and the projects take away from his assembly time.

No shortage of a steady stream of *** holes, had a guy needing his brass handrailings blasted, he had them powdercoated, and didn't like the finish, I told him powdercoating is the hardest stuff to get clean, I blasted them, they came clean very quickly, must have been a bad powder coating deal, took them back to the polisher (per agreement) and they would NOT take them b/c the customer is a PITA, and they didn't want his business! Anyone want some Brass handrailings? I certainly don't like these leftovers! haha
