Touching, leaning on, what are usually obviously "special" cars, and those who do it, whether children or adults, is prima facie evidence of either someone who had/have parents who let "their" kids do anything, no discipline, because they obviously think WAY too much of themselves, or no parents at all, or a total disregard for other people's property.
I'm sure that lack of respect and discipline affects their lives in a negative manner, or if it hasn't, it's just a matter of time.
There are 2 incidents that I can think of.
One was the most important car show of my life. The World of Wheels in the Louisiana Superdome. My parents' first date was the World of Wheels, back in 1961. I went just about every year, and for a long time I never thought I'd have a car nice enough to be in that show. My interest in cars kept me going, and many of my friends were into cars, and most of us all had "something" cool to roll around in, and some of them had cars in that show. Well my Roadrunner was nice enough to make the cut, and I won a 3rd place plaque, behind 2 other 70 Roadrunners, brothers who are friends of mine, and their cars are extremely "correct", and I have no question that they both should have placed ahead of me.
Still, I won an award and recognition at a show that I never thought I'd be in, that my parents may have thought I may never have a car in.
So some kid who should have been on a leash ran his fingers down the side of my car, and I asked him not to touch the cars, and by the snarky comment his dweeb, obviously leftist father made, well that told me a lot right there, and everything I said about people like that is true. They want to tell everyone else what to do, but they are a pitiful excuse for someone who lives in a civil society.
The other time was a guy actually had the balls or the lack of brain cells to know better, and reached in my car to show someone with him the "beep beep" horn.
I asked him in a tone and manner that made my displeasure obvious "Would you like the keys and you can take it for a drive?!" Then he mentioned those same 2 brothers w/the beautiful 70 Roadrunners, and I gave him a break but made it clear that I didn't appreciate what he did, and I know HE KNEW he was wrong.

No, they aren't "just ******* cars", at least not to a LOT of US. They are reminders of past times, experiences, ERAS when our lives were still mostly ahead of us. Great times, times that we were fortunate to have, because a lot of stuff like that doesn't happen anymore. They are TIME MACHINES that take us back to when we were younger and having a BLAST being crazy and hanging out with our friends and hundreds of other people were doing the same. Celebrating life, the end of another work week, school week, or both.
They are the embodiment of a desire fulfilled, worked for, waited for, and then when we finally found "the one" we traded our time, our money, our sweat and toil for them, and couldn't be happier with the trade. We take care of them, and enjoy the work involved in that care.
There's way too much to describe why our cars aren't "just ******* cars" but for someone with an attitude like yours, my explanation in this post isn't so much for you, or people like you, because that's probably wasted on you. It's for those like me, like QOTHL, like most on this forum who "get it" and because I am right there with QOTHL, and I'd say that just like this post being for people like me, QOTHL shouldn't bother to exchange posts with you, because it's a waste of time...
