I buying a new intake manifold, and I wonder if anyone here has an Edelbrock performer RPM (or other hi-rise) intake with original dual-snorkel air filter under the hood of a 71 Road Runner?

Will it fit?

Generally it will, but you also have to make sure you have the right bore match between the intake and carb. If you have to use an adapter that will make the whole assembly an inch taller. You can use a shorter or lower air cleaner to compensate.

You'll also likely have to change the throttle cable bracket.

I'm running a rpm air gap with 670 street avenger on the 340 but have a 3 " chrome air cleaner . no issues

I have a 72 Plymouth with a 440 and the rpm performer with a dual snorkel and it fits under the hood. How ever it does rub a little bit on the ends of the snorkels. Also it will not work if you have the hood pad had to remove mine.

I know this is a little bit older and this may be a dumb question but does a 340 sit close to the same height as a 440? I just got an edelbrock air gap intake and want to use my factory dual snorkel air breather and am worried about fitment. I am hoping the air breather will cover up the fact its a high rise and still look semi stock haha.
