This video does a fair job of expressing how I feel about this latest disaster from Microsoft. I am literally on hold with Dell processing my return of my laptop. I will reoder the same machine with Win 7, which I find far less stupid than Win 8. Strong language warning!

I still run Windows XP, when I purchased my last desktop, I made sure that I got it with XP and not Vista. I will continue to use XP on my personal computers but my company laptop will soon be brought into the Win 7 world and I am already dreading it.

Windows 7 I think is a really good OS.
Windows 8 has to be the worst!!! even worse than Vista. I have several people a month that purchase new laptops and computers that have 8 on them and want to downgrade to win 7.
Hewlett Packard is the worst for downgrading because they have installed a firmware to the hardware that won't let you downgrade real easy but can be defeated if you put enough effort in to it.
XP was the best that Bill Gates came out with IMHO and they have went downhill since. But don't be afraid of win 7 as it is real close to being as good as XP.

If you tune Vista to run like 7, it's fine.

I did like XP's file saving options better. It didn't get confused as much as 7, and was more logical out of the box.

If you get to the desktop in 8, it's much easier to use without a touchscreen.

Seems like microsoft forgot about all the folks that don't rush out and buy new technology (touchscreens) as soon as it comes out.

Honestly, even with a touchscreen, it's kinda difficult to figure out what works best with a swipe or poke, and what works best with the mouse/trackpad.

If you could set the default to the desktop, that would help, and if the "tiles" would scroll without a swipe, they could replace the start menu.

I also don't like that instal programs put whatever they like as a tile.
That's gonna get crowded, real fast.

I LOVE windows 7, easy and intuitive. It's what vista was supposed to be like when it first came out.

I still run XP at work (only cuz i cant afford to upgrade 12 machines to win7) but once i can, ill be happy to do it!

btw, they are stopping support for XP end of 2013 IIRC.

I believe the exact date is Apr 8 2014 unless they get bombarded again about the stopping of support.

:moparts ghost:I'm running Vista on my old desktop and 7Pro on my laptop. After getting all the bugs worked out of Vista it's been fine and the 7 on my laptop isn't too bad once you get used to some quirks. A friend told me that he absolutely hates 8 and is considering downgrading. Also, I don't get the fascination with touchscreens. I personally feel like they make the machine feel like some crappy toy, but that's just my opinion. If it was up to me, I would probably still be using XP.

I found that video somewhat funny, but the dude is right. On my laptop I accidently uploaded to windows 8 when it was a trail version about a year or so ago. Yeah, it's a really F-ed up system, I couldn't even figure it out. Kinda screwed me as I had to take it to the Geek sqd and have them put W7 back on it. The Geek said that he hated Windows 8 and that it's the worst and stay far far away from it.

The biggest problem is that Bill Gates thought he could copy or steal from apple again. They saw that Apple was making money from the apps side and MS wanted a piece of the pie hence win 8.
This OS is all about making the extra money from us the consumer. Bottom line it has nothing to do with a better OS at all!!!!!!!!!

I have an 8 year old laptop still running Vista since new. Bought the missus a new laptop this spring with windows 8. I wanted to throw it in the lake after a week. Worst OS ever!!

i have a fairly old 'puter with XP. i use very little of the "features". the thing is crapping out and i need something new. it seems like everything with Microsoft on it is a problem. i'm afraid to buy anything. i look at'em, scratch my head, and walk away. i don't think we're making real progress with these gadgets; just adding junk.

A Geek at Best Buy told us that next year Microsoft is sending out a fix for 8 that will make it more like 7 or XP. I hope so, because support for XP ends next year.

X2. Once you go Mac, you never go back. All my workstations in my business run XP. With support ending for XP by MS, I'm forced to upgrade if I want any new software to work. Friggin blackmail !!!!

I'm a MAC guy, except at work....

I went from POS OS Windows ME you guys think Vista was bad, ME is/was just a crappier version of 95-98, from that to Windows XP-Pro, it was nice I liked it simple to use, my new computer has Windows 7 Pro, other than it being an older 3-4 years already of an Windows OS/operating system when I got it, my new computer from last spring 2012, is way faster than my old PC/"puter" ever was, but the old computer was from 1999-2000 Gateway, older processor & with POS Window ME OS, Then I upgraded the same Gateway computer to Windows XP Pro, like night & day differences... Now my New custom PC/"puter", built by my sisters long time BF, with it's all new hot dog hardware & newer much faster processor, is light speeds ahead/faster, I wish I could have kept the XP Pro OS it was great... He told me Windows 8 was junk, I'd hate it, so he loaded Windows 7 Pro for me... I'm still learning, I'm no techy that's for damn sure, but I'm still learning allot...

I'm running Windows 8 right now, took some getting used but I still don't like it. My wife insist on me not switching it to 7 for some reason but I really don't know how much more of it I can take.

from the comments on here, it sounds like my sisters BF Ulf, was right about Window 8, being junk, that I would hate it... sorry to here the problems guys

I am not looking forward to even beginning to having a machine that has "8" on it. Nothing but nightmares is all I have heard about it. I am even considering dropping all Windows products and go with Ubuntu for my Operating System. I would go MAC but the cost are more than with the others. I am even planning on building my own desktop tower so I don't have to have all the other program junk that now comes out of the Factory. 90% of the Virus, etc. software takes over your machine and it is next to impossible to remove it. Requires manual managing of ones Registry to completely uninstall anything like Symantec, MACAFEE, Norton, etc. If it ain't broke then don't F**K with it....:angryfire::angryfire::angryfire:
