Don't do it!
May 4th... still not in.. the last people havent called back in 3 weeks. Windshield is sitting here, they havent billed me for it yet either.....
Car is for sale !!
I cant take this any longer. All I want is my winshield installed and 2 broken ones and 2 months later nothing but heartache.. first 8000 takes it. Its so close to being a solid daily driver but I think I might have reached my limit...the windshield might have won this battle.. I'm at a loss for what to do next
Hey man....really sucks to see all your troubles. I tell you what, all of us guys that restore these cars as well as the guys that just run and maintain them get into a rut with our cars here and there. Don't let it get to you and sure in the hell don't let it take the passion out of your dream. The window guys...well, it's amazing how quick people react when they gotta stare at you eye to eye until it's fixed. Put your foot down and be persistant. Make them sit and wonder when's the next time you'll call or show up, because you're on them all of the time. I would.
Think about this........all the work you put into the car, all you learned and all the hurddles you took to get there. Impressive! Now think about how close you are and what she's gonna sound and feel like when you turn that key in the ignition. There's a lotta lotta folks that would love to experience that but never will. You have it at your fingertips my friend, it's that close. Do you want to be that guy that everybody knows, with the hung head talking about how I used to have this car and boy....sure wish I wouldn't have sold it. Hell no!
I've been driving these mopars everyday since I could drive and i'll tell you what the best thing about them is. It's not the glamour, bragging about numbers or parading around some stupid high dollar showboat, it's about all the friends you make along the way and the american legacy of the automobile. When you drive down the street's and kids stop their bikes to wave, thinking "i'm gonna have one of those someday" or the old guy at the gas station comes over to reminisce about his old classic and the good old days, that's when you realize that it's not just a piece of tin sitting on four chunks of rubber, it's a piece of you, history and what owning these cars is all about.
Dude.......Chest out, Chin up and go put that Plymouth on the road! It's what you wanted to do from square one and don't let anything stop you. Someone/something kicks you in the dirt, get right back up and do it again.
I seriously hope you reconsider...You're not the guy cashing in his IRA's or are using equity to buy a turn key car to brag about. You're the guy that bought a rusted out mopar, had a vision of what the car could be, busted your knuckles, did the work and learned along the way. That's what these cars, this hobby needs and if you continue to do it, by all means somehow or another you'll pass it along down the road.
