Windshield install. 69 RoadRunner.

Back when I put the car together I apparently did not install the windshield the correct way. Is there anyone in that Atlanta area that can install a windshield properly? There has been a leak on the passenger side for a long time. We/I have called around and 90% of the glass places around do not want to touch a gasket windshield. So I'm looking for some either help or someone that would be willing to do it. I also had unwanted help while doing it and the guy started slapping the glass up in the corner and cracked the brand new windshield.

Anyhow let me know if anyone here has a connection or if they can do it. I will get a new windshield and gasket. Plus whatever supplies that are needed.
 
There are ways to still seal it without removing it.
 
I installed my back glass and had two leaks.

I went to a veterinary office and asked them for a plastic feeding syringe with a curved tip. I was able to use it to directly inject some of the bedding compound under the gasket in the approximate area where it was leaking, and it seemed to work, but because the syringe tip was plastic, it was not very precise. So I currently have on order a “adhesive applicator syringe” from amazon. It has a steel needle that I will attempt to bend and shape into the correct L shape, so as to allow me to inject the bedding compound directly underneath the gasket where leaks are. Using the plastic syringe reduced the leak, but I will not proceed until I get the steel tipped syringe in the mail. I am not sure if it will work.

The second leak appeared to be from between the glass and the gasket. I used the stuff below to seal that part. It seems to work as well.

I suggest you try this an experiment to see if it fixes your leak.

There is moisture between the glass and the seal on the inside of the car. I think I get the picture on how to fix it. I'll give it a go when I get the sealer. Hell, it can't hurt.
 
Just did my 67 Coronet Convertible. It's a two man job with suction cups....and Windex. Floating the glass in place and working the seal around with a plastic window tool. Its actually pretty easy, as long as you dont over-do the glazing. Lots of great threads on it, and technique. Local experts aside....they usually are not as patient, or expert, as they seem to be.

This is exactly why the windshield got cracked. I had all but one corner inside of the gasket. Then this is when the guy came over and started slapping the glass like a mad man. Im like Nooooooo and as soon as it came out of my mouth crack... 250.00 windshield went right to **** in 2 seconds. I did not ask for help this guy was the guy who painted the car. So Mike the guy who owns it was letting him "help" me.. I told him never again I don't need or want help. I had it under control.

lol.....I got my 17 year old son to help. He was the holder, I was the window guy. Its actually two pieces of glass, and obviously the corners need to be floated with care......in fact is the pressing in and working the corner at the same time, windex a plenty, that gets it in there.....no heat, not too much force. Room temp above 75 a plus....

The local shop had no problem at all doing it if I would bring the car to their shop. But it turned out they had a guy who'd do gasketed glass and was willing to make the house call. He did a nice job, but I did get nervous as he too was slapping the thing to get it in place.

Well I can't fathom how you can just slap the piss out of thin glass. Maybe its something they do but It certainly cracked the new glass in 2 seconds.

Same situation here. He came to my garage and did the job. It was not his first rodeo. :thumbsup:

That's what the factory says to do in the FSM.
 
Really wow.. I guess I didn't see that. Its just weird.
It is like anything else experienced hands make it easy and unbroken. No different than telling a person to tighten a 1/4 inch bolt and he uses a 3/4 inch breaker bar and wonders why the bolt broke. Same as a poker game know when to hold and know when to fold.
 
I'm a hard core DIY, but a man has to know his limitations. Asked some local car clubbers for recommendations. Ended up with local, mobile husband/wife team. Key was his experience with classic car windshields. They were outstanding.
