Knowing what a PITA it is to install a windshield, my one fear is rocks.
I was looking to see if there was something to use if I'm going to drive interstate in the city cross town and hoping for something that costs a few dollars per sheet and was considered temporary. Possibly on a roll? Anything probably is better than nothing.
If there is no such product, maybe one of the businesses that produces restoration items could come up with something if there was a market.
Well , without that does anyone have experience with any of the DIY films on the market.
I don't think I'm in 800+ dollar two person shop installed market.

Just Google, Windshield Protection Film

Plenty available

I’m not sure there is anything that is considered temporary and if there was it would probably run afoul of various State laws. The semi-permanent films I’ve read about are expensive and seem to only last 1-2 years although possibly an old car that spends most of its time in the garage might beat that. I also read a report where it’s a bit*h to remove. It didn’t just peel off once a corner was lifted. I think they had to razor blade a considerable amount of it off.

I might settle for semi-premanemt if someone can recommend one from DIY experience.
Lots on the market. If removal is such a pain that may be a deal killer.
Not going to turn my car over to anyone anyway.
