good progress today. Going to take the cross line off and straighten out the dips and dents so it lays flat against the firewall...

Cleaned up and installed the steering gear box and the idler and the pitman arm.

Did some more steering install today. Waiting on a couple of new tie rod end boots to arrive. Had to go and buy new castle nuts and sleeve clamp bolts washers and nuts. Still missing another zert grease fitting too. Cleaned up the brake hose banjo's and copper washers. Tightened everything up and put in cotter pins. Cut away those brackets from the hoses.

I had an idea today. No, it didn't hurt...lol.
I have been trying to solve the whole Audi gauges ( Pulse) running on info from 1967 sending units ( analog). So today, while rummaging around for this and that I located the Audi center armrest/cubby that I had not intended to use.
My idea is to place three/four small analog gauges inside the thing angled towards the driver, run the wiring back and down through the aluminum mounting arm so they are hidden under the console body going forwards to the engine bay and rearwards to the fuel tank. I don't typically spend a lot of time studying those gauges anyway, only on start up. Solves the issue nicely. What say youz?

So forgive me if I forgot from earlier posts, but don't you have to solve the pulse issue for other functions (like speedometer)? Once you do, won't the operation of these gauges also fall into place too?

Yes and no. Yes the speedo is pulse but I solved that with a tranny speedo gear unit that converts it to pulse. There are no pulse sending units that are compatible with a 440 big block and the Audi computer.. The gauges in the Audi cluster are smaller than I can find replacements for that are analog. So, this is the easiest and least expensive remedy. If the speedo gear doesn't work i'll replace the speedo with a GPS operated speedo.
 
I'm surprised that no sharp eyed FBBO member saw the issue I have with my brake calipers....lol. Someone on another site clued me in that the calipers are each on the wrong side of the car. The bleeder screws need to be at the top of the caliper. Saves getting trapped air in there while bleeding them. I need to swap sides which will rotate them to the tops...also bringing the hoses up away from the LCA...lol. Duh.

Proof of concept....wire loom hidden....this is a C Pap air hose and connector. I'll slide a pvc tube around it in the finished version and paint it. The under dash portion is a swivel 90*. Should be able to fish many lines through there along with another one on the other side of the car. 3/4" hose. It runs below the fender mounting flange and at the front corner will slid in down and around into the top of the panel behind the lights with another 90* swivel. Once all is run i'll glue the connectors together. Water tight...i will also replace the cloth straps with metal clamps.

Swapped the calipers around and repositioned the hoses. Installed tie rod end boots and new castle nuts and cotters. Linkage is done. Moving on....lol.
