Yankee Express RestoMod Project

How you like my orange handled high tech parts holder?

Right side done. I have a question: Can someone snap a picture of the front lower fender brace bar that goes from the front section lower lip over to the fame? None of the bars I have seem to be long enough. Can't imagine they shrunk...i must be missing something. I lost a little paint next to the latch but that's the only spot so far.

The Yankee Express has her own Facebook page! Too many people who don't belong to this or other forums wanted to see her so i started a page. It's up and visible now and can be found by searching for Yankee Express.

Put on the trunk lid, extensions and cross bar lower panel. Dug out the Dodge letters and cleaned them up a little. I'll slice off the mounting posts and use modern trim adhesive instead. Lid needs a little adjustment yet. I got smart a while back and the last time I had the lid on and all adjusted I drilled two holes in each hinge between the bolts for finish nails to align it later. Worked like a charm.

Finally got the correct fittings for the pump to carb braided line -6AN fittings. The top is a 5/8"x18 to -6AN inverted flare tube thread and the bottom is a 5/16"x20 inverted flare tube thread to -6AN. Both fit perfectly and the 6AN fitting to them fits as well.

Ghost, get ya some DEI insulation for that fuel line. It’ll help keep the fuel cool and keep that braided line from sawing off the paint.

Got it painted today, all one color and shade, lol. I'm happy with it except for I missed coverage on the right end of the trunk lid and ran out of paint,, no reducer left, 2/3 of the way across the trunk lid. So, going to get some reducer tomorrow and tape off the car except the trunk lid and shoot it again. I didn't paint the roof, going black with that. I did pretty good, no runs, no dark spots, no splatter, all even and nice. Proud of me.

Some guy on FB is giving me hell about this paint job. Why do people feel like they need to attack others over stuff? What an ***.

Tell the “***” if he don’t back off, a “hard hitting, pipe laying, snot knocking Combat Infantry Soldier” will pay him a visit.

He's just a keyboard warrior. There's a lot of them who spend their time just sowing salt everywhere. Sad people.

Awesome! Once the trunk is done then some clear (I assume basecoat clearcoat?) and then buffing like crazy!

I have never had the balls to try painting a car myself, so I take my hat off to you for doing so. Maybe one of these years I'll dive in and try.

For now, you are JUST ABOUT to the point where you can start bolting stuff on the car for good - that's exciting!

Actually, it's a single stage metallic. But, I have a gallon of clear.

You probably going to want more than a gallon of clear. I'm guessing another 2 quarts to lay down 2 good coats of clear

Well, I was behind the learning curve to begin with and I know more now than then, but, this thing is two colors. I can't figure out how to darken the lighter parts. I ordered another color and am going to start over. I left the roof to be painted black so it is still scuffed up.
