I recently ordered a new center section with a 7290 yoke and it did not arrive with U-bolts. It is prepped for U-bolts so my oem straps will not work. Due to time constraints I ordered a set of Moroso 85820. I installed everything today and I don't like the way they fit. Is anyone else running these or have any experience with them?

Measure your cup diameter 7290 1.125" 1350 1.188". I'd use shorter grade 8 cap screws.

They definitely sit around the cup nicely. I just don't like the amount of gap between the face of the yoke and the cap itself.
I agree about the fasteners for sure, the bolts are way too long. Also noticed that the yoke has 5/16 holes but these fasteners supplied are 1/4-20.

I'll post a picture of mine, maker unknown. If you have a Fastenal near by when get ones that fit right. Go and buy right length bolts/cap screws and fiber lock nuts all grade 8.

Bet you have 1350 u-joint or a combo 7290/1350. See the differance, I wouldn't run them like that. MO.

Those girdles are not right.

I would not run them like that either. Denny's driveshaft has a nice online tool that will help you measure to determine what you need. I struggled with the same thing last year on my car which had a yoke setup for U bolts. Within 15 minutes I'd figured out what I needed and ordered from them. Had the u bolts a few days later.

Hmm that's a big gap. If the place you bought the rear from already modified the yoke for a 5/16" through-bolt maybe they also have the setup you need? Did they also supply the u-joints? I use those same girdles with my 742/7290 rear and they fit flush. I was thinking you got a mis-packaged set, wouldn't be the first time(although I think Moroso's girdles are different colors for the different sizes of u-joint). You might want to get an exact measurement of the u-joint cap, and inside diameters of the yoke and girdles to see where the problem lies..

I'd disconnect driveshaft from yoke and see if cups are fully seated in girdles, bet not. As I said earlier measure cups and girdles. Sure would like to know how it works out.

If you have the correct girdle for the caps your using they fit nearly flush. I've run them for years on an 11.0 car with no issue. However if your yoke is drilled for U bolts already why not just get a pair of U bolts at the auto parts? Or were the original bolts broken off in the yoke then drilled? Now with no standard U bolts available?

Thanks for all the responses everyone.
I agree 100% that it wasn't right, just couldn't figure out why.
It is a standard 7290 ujoint but the yoke is not a standard yoke. The Moroso caps I have are designed to be used with the factory yoke, which needs to be drilled out to use the through bolts. I should have received the correct Ubolts with the new center section, however they didn't make it. I talked to them yesterday and they shipped them out right away. He also explained that the yoke they use requires the use of a u-bolt which was oem on a 78 Ltd I believe it was.
Now to get rid of these Moroso's!
