What a jackass.
It amazes me, or maybe it really doesn't anymore, how many people will lean on my car at a show to look at the engine or interior. In my case, it doesn't really matter since my car doesn't have a great paint job. But the nerve of it irritates me. I've always gone out of my way to not touch someone else's car when looking at it.

At a show this summer we were sitting there and a guy comes up to look at it with his teenage or maybe older kid. So the kid keeps molesting my car like he can't look at it without touching it. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and I blurted out to him, "You know, you're lucky my car doesn't have an expensive paint job, because if it did, I'd be really pissed off right now at the way you're touching it like that. Keep that in mind when you're near the cars with nice paint jobs". He took the hint and moved on. If he had some issue, I get it. Maybe he had some kind of delays. He was at least socially out of it for sure. But what about the father? How about keeping an eye on him if he needs extra supervision? This is the problem with the shows that get Joe Blow walking through and not car people.
I have become such a grumpy old man! LOL

I just saw the video recording of this on tv show. This guy was absolutely clueless as to what he was doing. Complete and total disrespect for the property of others. He was indeed hamming it upnfor the cameras. What a jerk. Glad he got canned. If there was damage to my car I’d be seeking remedy.

A couple of years back, I was at a car show with my friend in Kelowna at the local Home Depot...not a huge turn out, maybe 25-30 cars, a variety of makes. Near the end of the show, we wander around to pick our choices in the various classes, and we watch this older gentleman who brought his car to the show (some British car....MG? Triumph?? can't remember), put his foot on the fender of a 33-34 Ford street rod, black with old school flames to fill out the form....the owner comes up, guy in his forties I am guessing, heavily tatted up.....and proceeds to go up one side and down the other!! We actually thought he was going to get his *** beat, he was very apologetic about it, but umm......common sense perhaps???? I guess the Ford owner was lucky he did not put the paper on the roof and start filling it out!!!

Towards the end of the last and most attended day of Cruisin the Coast, a couple of years ago, I noticed the lack of discipline in the people who were walking around was increasing, and I was beginning to think about leaving anyway.
Some guy is talking about my car to someone who was with him, mentioned the "beep beep" horn, and leans in and blows the horn in my Roadrunner!
I asked him if he wanted the keys so he could take it for a ride...
I'm certain he got the point, he mentioned that he was friends with a couple of friends of mine who have pristine Roadrunners, and I gave him a break.

My dad sprayed coke all over the front of my 70 Challenger one time....said he heard on a C&W radio station that it would take the 'love' bugs off real quick. Told him it'll take the wax off real quick too and not to do it. Next thing I know he's got a 2 liter bottle of coke and does it before I could stop him. Sometimes my dad was kinda nuts. I grabbed a water hose as quick as I could but it was too late and it left it's mark. Think maybe he was paying me back for being such a hellion when I was little lol.

When I brought my 70 Cuda' vert home on a trailer we had to park it in the lot at the hotel we stayed at. I got cleared to park right in front of the doors in case there was a problem and they gave me a room overlooking that spot. My son and I were getting ready to hit the sack and he looks outside one more time to see the car we were both very excited about and says "Uh, Dad, some guy is leaning on the car..." WTF? I went out and walked right up to the guy, obviously a little drunk, who's on his phone and say quite clearly "Get your *** off my car".... he looks at me in shock and starts apologizing and saying he was just admiring it and calling his wife to tell her about his hunting trip and the cool car he's looking at. Hangs up, pulls out his badge and "cop" business card, saying sorry man, I'm one of the good guys. I tell him nothing against cops bud, but I don't care who you are, you need to get your *** off my car...

We ended up having a good chuckle and he really did just want to have a look see but people need to learn to respect other folks property.

This is what happens when we take bullying and Jesus out of our school systems. Bunch of *** hats that think the world is theirs cuase that is what they are taught. I say the owners of those cars have a responsibly to find him and invade his personal space. See if he is still happy and bouncing around when they all are eating oatmeal at his kitchen table.

A friend was a mechanic at a dealership that had vintage and collectible cars. People would bring in rare and expensive cars for him to make repairs and upgrades. Hands behind my back, I would study things he had disassembled like the engineering of a Lotus blow through turbo setup or the interior of a high dollar Mercedes.

I was amazed by others who stopped by. They would open doors and sit in customer cars. Some were way too old to be treating other people's property like that. I guess they weren't hurting anything and wouldn't mind if someone did that to their car, but what the hell? One should ask first.

I go to the dog park and have trained my dog to not jump up on cars to greet other dogs as they pull in. He will sometimes stand on his hind legs without touching and I guess I can live with that, but I watch him like a hawk and call him off if he starts getting too excited. I don't care if a dog jumps up on my "dog car", but I still discourage them as it is good training for behaviour around paint jobs that are nice.

After seeing the video I thought this would come up on our forum. I guess being an analytical sort I was wondering just WTF he was thinking and why? The guy makes it to be a TV reporter and pulls this ****? Thought he was maybe high on dope or something or somehow his odd idea of being funny? He knew full well his antics were bad making the comment about dinging the next car with the door! Well, he got canned and I'd think good friggin luck finding another job as a reporter and yeah, any damage done should be paid by the shithead. Wonder what he's thinking now...

^ Seen the video, think he was trying to be funny for the girl reporter at the main desk and it backfired terribly on him. He obviously isn't much of a car guy and really underestimated how protective car owners are..
