Everyone is about sick of this BS. life has us walking around in circles and dealing the best we can. We are all on the ready to listen and help pull each other up. As far a our cars, all my other builds were small block with all the hp you could pull on pump gas. Big cam, heads and lope like a mule. My 65 is old, but new in technology. For me it's easier, no work at all. I would trade it for a hemi and nothing else at this point, except a 440 71, 72 road runner!! LOL. Did I mention that it would have to be done and perfect. Well, that was absolutely my brain on lock down to long and needing Retail therapy. Please, sweet baby jesus, help!!

Agreed. I still wanna set the timing "back" to 10BTDC on mine because I've always had fairly stock 440's like it
there - any more and they'd detonate on pump gas. She likes more on initial while idling, but she's a tad jittery at
light cruise going down main street set up at 14BTDC or higher....

Late 60 and early 70 cars, torsion bar cars in particular, are the sweet spot.
They are basically modern cars.
In other words, discounting the bells and whistles like electronic controls and such do dads, they are just as drive-able every day as any new car.
I do it.
Put a new motor in them, upgraded or not , and they will run with the pack 70 MPH for ever.
If you are so inclined.
Just don't have a wreck.

When I bought my 66 /6 Belvedere in the late 80's it had around 95k miles on it and it still ran pretty good. Even got the AC working without much of a problem and once I was comfortable with it being dependable, I drove it to work nearly every day for the next 10 years. Even drag raced it! Never paid much attention to the mileage because there's an old Sun tach blocking the view to that lol. Took a look just now and it's showing 28554 so, I put over 30k miles on it and many of them were not exactly easy miles either and once a 4.10 gear was in it, that old /6 saw some high rpm......for a /6 anyways. Still drove it 60-70 mph on the freeway going to work

Can't help myself. Just set it back to 10BTDC.
First, we'll stop by CVS, then on a 30 minute run over to the next town for some
Popeyes chicken sandwiches (LOVE those damn things!).

Well, it didn't seem to bother it a whole lot really - but yeah, I think it likes it back up around 14-15 better.
I know, I know, I should be more concerned with the total mechanical advance.
I'll get into all that tomorrow probably when I'm setting it back.

BTW, when we went the next county (and first major town) over to the Popeyes, what did our wondering eyes
should appear but restaurants that still aren't allowing inside dining.
Our governor has been allowing it for a couple weeks now, but I reckon localities can still make their own
rules - and Morristown, TN is well known as an island of liberalism surrounded by red.
It's even known as a "sanctuary city", with all the fun that comes with that.
Anyways, we came all that way for a $^^%& chicken sandwich, so we braved the drive-thru in the GTX (it's hot
today, around 87F) and she got a little toasty, but not too bad.
The kids working inside Popeyes all had to come have a look at her, too of course.

We took our sandwiches over to a local park and found some shade - and saw all the kids' rides and such all
roped off with police tape.
Silly idjits...

Pretty much haven't stopped, really. Other than the whole "looking for a new gig for the first time in my life" part,
things are as they have been - as I want them to be - all along.
I've done the whole fast-paced city thing; I've participated in the suburbia career and family thing, too.
25 years ago, I walked away from that world and headed "home", even though I knew very little about it honestly.
Both sides of the family are from these parts originally and the moment I set foot in the state, I just knew I was
where I was supposed to be.
My brother and sister are both very successful in their fields and still do the achiever lifestyle in cities; they
don't understand how I just bowed out. Heck, they probably think less of me because I did.
No matter...

Hard to explain - but it works for me. Wouldn't have it any other way. This is where I belong.
