your first car/truck?

My first car was a 1965 Coronet 500 383 4 barrel 4 speed.
Originally white. Painted red, Black vinyl top Black interior.

Started looking for another last year. Came across a sweet 66 coronet 500
survivor car from the original family with 23k miles.

69 Coronet 440 2dr ht. Leaning tower of power with swivel bucket seats from a Monte Carlo and at least 8 coats of paint. B3 w/ blue interior. First driver was a piece of junk 81 F-150 two tone tan & brown and a propane setup. Lost the spare one night being a dumbass teenager in a turf farm:/

'69 Road Runner in F8, 383, 4-speed, bench seat. I bought it in '72 and it was already beat to death. I had to rebuild the tranny, and had a lot of trouble with the bulk head connector. The biggest problem I had was that I had to replace the rear shock cross member. The po had air shocks on the rear and must have had a lot of air in them because they broke that cross member on one side. And instead of fixing it right he just bolted the broken end to the trunk floor.

1953 Chevrolet Bel Air...Marla
Great picture and cool nostalgia shot of the car/hair Marla!

I think we have a Winner here with baddest *** first car! Not that it's a contest of course lest I hurt someones feelings .. all the first car's are neat and i like this thread, but that is pretty bad *** for a high school kid or anyone.

I bought my 56 Bel Air in 1970 when I was 15.

When I started looking, I insisted that I wanted a 55-57 Chevy 2 door. One weekend when I was visiting my sis and her hubby in Wichita, BIL took me looking. We found a 56 Chrysler New Yorker, 2 door hardtop, 354 Hemi, dual quads (IIRC), leather, PS, PB, PW, auto, no rust a sweet car for $295. My BIL tried so hard to get me to buy that car....but NOoooooo, I HAD to have the Chevy. They had a rusted out '56 four door hardtop they wanted $395, I was more interested in that one......but ended up not buying it. Kept on the lookout and ended up buying the hunk of rust you see here. Worked it over and ended up selling it for $500 Wish now that I'd bought the Chrysler..:disgust:

great post and story .. thanks

I stole (literally) my first car. 1963 chevy belair 6cyl. Shortly after I moved to a new town when I was 16, a school buddy of mine got me a job at a chevy dealer. Shortly after, a lady had traded the car in for a newer model. The unique thing about those years of cars you didn't need a key to start it as long as the ignition wasn't locked and if the door was locked, all you had to do was put your hand on the window and slide it down. For the record, I did buy this car legally thru my work. I believe I paid $300 for the one owner car. Made payments every week.

Whut?

what was wrong with that.......:icon_mrgreen:

mine was a 1969 Firebird, single OHC six, paid $100 for it in 1980.

black 68 charger with R/T EMBLEMS ,traded my 10 speed bike for it.

in '78 bought a '69 Buick Skylark. bucket of rust. dad bought it for me because i kept wrecking the family car. i paid him back over time. drove it for 4 years. a friend and i ended it's life with a 430 transplant out of an Electra. ripped the front cross member out doing a "Dukes" move in his dads gravel pit. as far as i know it's still setting back there. ugliest car ever imo.

You all had cool cars compared to me. Mine was a 69 LTD. 200. beater. Boy if that car could talk.

Lol, yep; if those old cars could talk! Fumbling around trying to figure things out..girls...beer...cruising...staying out all night!

1966 Fairlane 390 auto when I was 17yo. It was an 500XL 2dr hardtop so had buckets and a console, was blue on midnight blue, and I paid $400 from the original owner. I dropped a 410 Merc stroker in it and went street racing. Lucky to be alive. I remember one time having the speedo absolutely buried (probably around 130ish) racing this guy on the freeway with a hot 67 Nova SS 327 at night...drum brakes really don't do much at those speeds!
