    My GY8 '71 Road Runner

Hey, just look at all the pictures "back in the day". We all sat on them, stood on them, slept on them, and beat the living he77 out of them when driving. It's no wonder they have dents! Nice job with all the sanding - it will pay off big time once the car is painted

1970 RR Fender Tag Question for the experts

Yes. There were two pieces made by the factory, one with the holes cut out for the factory and one with metal in the place of the lamps like your picture. I'm sure people have cut out the metal and made the lights fit, but if you can find a factory piece it will save you time and hassle. (I...

Trouble with Timing Chain install 383

I may be repeating what others have said, but... To find true piston TDC, you need something that randomly stops the piston near, but not at, TDC. Turn the engine just past TDC and install the piston stop. Now rotate the engine backwards until the piston (gently) hit the stop. Mark this point...

Trouble with Timing Chain install 383

I think that's a good move. At worst, the cam will degree perfectly and you will feel you wasted time to degree it. But, it is very possible you will find it is advanced or retarded. And then, with some adjustment. You can get your car running like it should!

Used lifters on a used cam

I assume this is NOT a roller cam. With a roller cam, it does not matter. A flat tappet cam has the lobes angled a little bit. In turn, the bottom of the lifter is dished. This makes the lifter constantly turn as the engine runs, which is needed. (By the way, this is why you need to pay special...

Trouble with Timing Chain install 383

I agree that degreeing a cam is important. Two examples: A 340 cam was 10 degrees advanced and a 440 cam was 4 degrees retarded. There are more errors than you might think, so cams that are "off" is more common than you may think. You engine is out and there are a number of good video tutorials...

    B Body wannaB

I like the idea of buying a car that was painted at least several years ago. Why? Freshly painted cars can hold rust secrets that have just been covered up with shiny new paint, but can bubble through within a year or two. When you buy a car that was painted awhile ago, you are more likely to...
