This thread needs some clarifications..
1. The Holley retro-brights were introduced >2 years ago, at that time there was little competition.
2. Regarding Octane before I bought the Holleys, I visited their store looking for LED headlights. At that time the only 5.75" LEDs that was...
OK, to remove the cluster I removed the screws holding it in and removed the AC/heater control face plate but I get very limited movement, not even an inch. What else needs to be removed to move the cluster out far enough to get to the bulbs?
I also did the LED Dash Light Upgrade, what a huge difference !!
It was a frustrating task, but I took my time with a few beers, figured it out and it was well worth it.
Perfect dash lights now.
Got the bulbs from Amazon, pretty cheap upgrade.
I switched the flasher module to an LED compatible...
To be clear, with a running healthy factory charging system, the ammeter will not register any additional charging current no matter what the headlamp current draw is. Ammeter registers battery charging/discharging only. Does not, should not, register any vehicle loads at all while in operation...
Had a chance to get more work done on the tail lights. Replaced the sockets (superglued in so if I need to replace later, I can). Everything protected with shrink tube, and then wrapped with TESA tape (the cloth stuff, similar looking to OEM). All bulbs are now LED. I got to use my power...
Hello,
I am looking at some stock looking 7" round headlight housings that take H4 LEDbulbs and H4 connectors. I see everyone saying to make sure you add relays and Yada Yada. Why??? LED's draw much less current than conventional bulbs. Its not like a halogen or Xenon or something. This should...
car is currently at shop, so i cant look for myself, how many ledbulbs do i need to order ?
I know some are push pin style and some are regular.
does anyone know how many of each ?
...you have a short, I would think the fuse would blow no matter if you had incandescent or ‘digit’ light.
Are the new tail lights just replacement LEDbulbs in the original sockets or did you replace the entire tail light housing?
I might put the incandescents back in and see if you blow the fuse.
Copy I'll test socket.
Curious why the ones you linked are better? Comparing to what I have they look the same and don't even really show what the base pins look like.
What I bought.
1157 LED Bulb with Stock Cover - Dual Function 36 SMD LED Tower - BAY15D Bulb
im not sure of the condition.
my dash lights are very dim and get brighter with rpm.
can i change them to ledbulbs?they seem to just be one brightness and not afffected by rpm.
Cherokeechief, yes you can change out the bulbs for LED style.
superbrightleds.com is the place I get my LED's
Just be aware that some of the LED's are not able to be dimmed.
Last week I bought the same 1157 in white, I'm happy. They offer the bulbs in two light outputs, now I have to go look to see which I bought. I definitely want the bright version in a 1156 for BU lights, and then I have to track down amber? version of any output for front TS.
I agree, they seem...
Not only the weatherproof aspect but the way we need to push and twist the bulb to get it in the socket, I wouldn’t want to put that stress directly on the LED’s that are soldered to the circuit boards in the bulbs - you might break the solder joints or rip some LED’s off. I want a cover or...
@mpgmike
Thanks and this is essentially where I was having problems, I was using a 1 ohm resister per 4 bulbs however after testing the various strings repeatedly I would get a bulb failure ever once in awhile which is a PIA because I was using a breadboard and soldering the bulbs to the board...
Id like to add a nice bright white LEDbulbs to my headlights.
Is there certain headlight housing i should use?
I think hella makes some but cant find a part #
I have the bulb kit, Just need the headlight housings
...figure out why the horn wasn't working. None of the gauge cluster lights worked so while it was out I installed a new circuit board and ledbulbs. The wiring was a mess and rather than patch it back together I ordered a new under dash harness and installed new turn signal switch.
Now for...
