OK, to remove the cluster I removed the screws holding it in and removed the AC/heater control face plate but I get very limited movement, not even an inch. What else needs to be removed to move the cluster out far enough to get to the bulbs?

...you have a short, I would think the fuse would blow no matter if you had incandescent or ‘digit’ light. Are the new tail lights just replacement LED bulbs in the original sockets or did you replace the entire tail light housing? I might put the incandescents back in and see if you blow the fuse.

im not sure of the condition. my dash lights are very dim and get brighter with rpm. can i change them to led bulbs?they seem to just be one brightness and not afffected by rpm.

Cherokeechief, yes you can change out the bulbs for LED style. superbrightleds.com is the place I get my LED's Just be aware that some of the LED's are not able to be dimmed.
