The straight rad crossbar and okay looking trunk floor show promise but not the patched firewall. In my experience anything in primer is just covering a whole bunch of required labour. Expect it all to be bad. If it is close go have a look at it. If it isn't forget about it.
I bought this one in 77. Sold it because the rear wheelarches were pushed out and rustfree ones were impossible to find even then. Guy threw in a convt. 4 speed with Dana parts car for another $100.
AMD rear bumper for Challengers is no great shakes either. Common problem, so yeah fit everything before final body and paint, it's best not to fit this chineseum on a car with fresh paint and expect it to fit perfect. The original parts didn't fit like a Rolls Royce back in the day either.
He, he. You NEVER see a 66 Satellite project with the top of fender trim intact. I think people buy these cars just for for that trim and sell the rest. Thiis car looks like an interesting project anyway. Much better was the red 66 383 convt. advertised on here for $10k.
3.23's are what would work the best but they are not what you have. It depends on if the engine is stock or not and how much town driving you will be doing. Either set of gears will work and compromise a bit with both. "Daily driven", "cam and porting", leads me to believe it will be daily...
Stop blowing apart a decent car on a weekend and thinking you have started the restoration process. Take an assembly off, restore it and store it for reassembly. Then take another assembly off and repeat. By the time you get the car torn down you have it 1/3 of the way and you're still excited...
Oh yeah. I bought this one needing a rebuilt engine. I took it on as a challenge I think more than anything. I'm a pretty big guy and I had to make up some fancy tool combinations and techniques to get it done.
Kind of Peed me off it was pretty much as fast as a stock HemiCuda.
I didn't complain too much changing the plugs on mine. I swear everytime I pull the oil filter and it spills on the front diff and electrics though.
Not looking forward to changing the cam and lifters either. I might pull the engine out when I do that, or maybe the cab off might be easier.
Looks great! I bet you don't know what to do with your free time now, after a workout like that it's hard to not go to the shop and grab sandpaper, it becomes a habit. I painted my 71 as well and know exactly how it feels sanding all those curves, closest thing to a straight panel on these cars...
I think my next truck will be a mint 80's Dodge if I can find a nice one. Something without electronics. I figure If I find a low mileage one for somewhere under $20k I'll be able to keep it running long after this new junk is dead and buried, I also don't want anything that big brother can...
Canada Post gives good service and I try to use them if possible, They've been going on strike just ahead of Christmas since the 70's though. These unions kill everything they get their hands on. I think their starting wage for no qualification, new employees is in the $25/hr range. Govt...
It would be rare with the sunroof. I've always had mixed feelings on the traditional 73-74 SE roof but at least it is distinctive and in 73 it was in style. You couldn't really tell it was an SE with the other option.
