I got my stereo today so I started the process of figuring out how to get it installed. I got the cover plate cut. It's a pretty good fit. The existing opening is slightly larger than the bezel. I may get a piece of laser cut plastic to extend the bezel area. I'll also be doing a wrap.
I hadn't even heard of semi auto antennas. The pics are really helpful, thanks. Sure would be easier with the fender off, but it shouldn't be too bad. I may not actually mind having the antenna go up all the way with the radio. I'll have to see if it goes up when the head unit powers on, or...
I made a to RMS today to get the rear end looked at. Turns out the caliper bolts, while not touching were close enough that during hard cornering were hitting the back of the brake rotor. We also reshimmed the caliper and that took care of it. Big thanks to RMS as I know that's not their...
Nice picture, good to see the original clearance. That might as well be a foot compared to what I have. I'm estimating 1/32" for mine. Maybe a 1/16th if I'm lucky. That's after the studs have flattened that side of the spring off and I ground down the heads of the studs a bit. Hopefully...
Yeah, I've actually done that to an extent already. It's not supposed to hit though, so something else is up because it only hits with side loading.
Bill told me to ditch the flat face gasket on the axle flange as it might be causing some flex or spacing out the parking brake enough. Seems...
I pulled the axle again. I had the foresight to color the heads of the studs to see if they were rubbing before I reinstalled the axle last time. Here's what I found.
This is how close they are without any side load on the vehicle.
I'm going to have to have a conversation with RMS since I...
I put a little Christmas money to use and bought a cheap set of exhaust tips since I cut the turn downs off. They'll do fine.
Another issue I'm having is what I thought was a rubbing sound on the right rear when making hard left turns. I flexed the suspension all the way and did some checking...
At some point in the future I plan on adding power windows to my 1972 restomod. I already have a 2015 Challenger center console and speed hut gauges, so I'm looking for something modern. I'm considering potentially eliminating the ash tray and putting in a Wrangler switch pod.
Another...
So the permatex seems to have been somewhat successful. Not sure how it will hold up long term, but OK for now. I reassembled everything. Knowing it might have to come back apart, I just used hot glue and a zip tie. If it works long term, then I guess that's the permanent solution.
I still...
