The old standard flat exhaust lobe test is a brief WOT snap, if you get poppoppop the cam is suspect... Strangely with a bad exhaust lobe you can bring throttle in slowly & while the engine may run rough it rarely backfires... But snap the throttle in neutral & you get poppoppop....

None of them need sealer. Some type of antisieze /lubricant perhaps.

The Chrys ign boxes have fixed dwell. Their main advantage is ign timing remains constant for many miles because there is nothing to wear [ points ]; it still uses the inefficient canister coil. GM with HEI introduced varaible/adaptive dwell, that went a long way towards providing maximum coil...

There's six. Look at a housing gasket, that should tell you which ones could use a sealer. (I'm using elephant ears, so mine are all studded) Drain the coolant, pull the bolts one at a time, seal it, put it back, next.....

Personally, I’ve never had to seal any of them. Never had a leak. Guess you could do them all if you want.

The Performer will be very limiting with a stroker engine. Edel states the rpm range as idle to 5500. With a stroker, it will be less than 5500; the more cubes, the lower the peak rpm.
