I always liked the 64's. There was a red 63 at Carlisle last year that had them growing on me too. If I ever finish everything I have now, maybe the last one will be mid 60's.
I agree. It still amazes me. Well maybe not so much, America loves Walmart too and chinese garbage so whatever has a nice display at the box store or they see on social media gets the nod regardless of actual quality.

You would be surprised with big power how little the gear kills it. My so had a carbed, turboed 360. Factory heads, .500" cam, 2.76 gear. We got it to go 10.50's. Over 35 % converter slip because it was still accelerating at the finish line. With tuning and a 3.23 it dipped into the 9.9X range.

Well, the if the purpose is to drill a nice hole in metal, I suggest get the biggest drill press you can afford, first thing I look for is how large is the quill, larger diameter often being stiffer, truer and better. Grab it by hand and see what play/slop you can feel. A larger part/work table...

same here, race built 383 cammed-stroked, stock fan and radiator, never over 180-185
Ditch the electric fans, quadruple check the timing, maybe to much at high rpm, might need to re-curve the distributor so when you set you initial timing then you can dial in max around 36-38 obviously...
