car orig. came with a 273. I assume the 904 is original. Later, a 1976 318 block was installed. Then i became the owner. For sure its a 904 based on pan.
the 904 behind my 67 Sat 318 is ready for a rebuild or replace.
I met a vendor at Carlisle (rocket performance transmissions) but I've also seen A&A transmissions recommended.
I see A&A has a 904 street perf. trans for $1095. Not sure if that's shipped or if a core has to be shipped back.
I know...
I have a rebuilt 318, whiplash cam, headers, 904 automatic, curved Petronix dist and 3.23 sure grip spinning 245/60-15's in a 67 satellite.
Which converter stall speed would you recommend ?
Hughes says 1800 to 2200 (stock to mild)
Curious what others run.
@493 Mike or @anyone
i want to be sure i understand because the FSM doesn't spell it out.
So I detach clips or nut (red circles) and leave shaft on trans to gear selector(yellow).
The assembly at each shaft (red arrow) should slide out and away from trans.?
I have to rely on the knowledge...
@493 Mike
when you say nut at inner pivot, you mean #1?
And retaining clip to shift rod, you mean #2?
I thought the shaft would have to be removed because its anchored at the fender with a bracket.
thanks,
Brad
been awhile since pulling a trans.
have driver side long tube header loose, starter removed, driveshaft removed.
Check me on next steps, rotate engine to get converter drain to 6 O'clock, drain. Paint one of the bolts to allow future assembly. Rotate engine and remove converter bolts...
yes, it rubs slightly. Enough to rub the paint off but my opinion is when brake is applied, the pad slides towards front of car...so no pressure at hub.
I think it settles back down when released and rides the hub lightly.
i installed a disc conversion last summer (MDC62DC) with 11" disc on 1967 Satellite.
I'm getting an intermittent grinding noise at left front when applying brakes.
Pulled and checked to see something obvious but only see the pad scraping the outer hub when in freewheel. Nothing out of the...
@pnora ,
i have no issue blocking crossover. That's what i have currently.
Might try gaskets from Hughes engines that are .031 thick instead of .060 as I may have a slight mis-match between heads and Eddie performer intake that is allowing oil to suck into the right bank. Need to try that and...
i have 2843675 318 heads(68-71) that i'm about to order intake gaskets. I suspect an intake leak pulling oil.
Previously i installed the Fel pro 1213 gaskets.
Maybe i'm getting crosseyed and reading too much but i've read all pre-1989 head are 2BBL and as such..would I use the Fel pro 1243...
I can't find a reference in the electrical diagrams to this relay on my 67 Satellite, mounted off inner fender.
It looks alot like the stater relay that's at the firewall but has a wire to positive battery side and an inline fuse to the headlight harness?
