I had to take the tank down on my '67 Belvedere II to change the unit. I also bought a 3/8" replacement sending unit from Vans Auto and it turned out the disc itself is stainless--couldn't solder a return line into it and had to have it welded.
A little bit of gymnastics to get the filler tube...
XHD springs didn't raise my '67 Belvedere over the original (318 V8) springs, and a proper set of S/S springs gave about the same height when mounted in the upper holes then maybe 1" higher when in the lower mounting holes. My car also sat with the front end lower on the driver's side so I...
My '67 Belvedere is similar, just gotta hold the proper angle and the fuel flows in. The neck within the trunk is pretty twisted, and on my car you can see what looks like a vent partway down. Try putting fuel in at that point or above and it flows out the vent (through the frame, I think)...
Just bought a '68 440 block/crank/rods/pistons setup as a spare to stick in the corner of the garage (or maybe use the crank in a 400) and can't find a VIN stamped in the block. Where should this be located? I was thinking along the bottom of the skirt just above the pan rail on the passenger...
I put XHD's on my '67 BelvedereII, car didn't change in height either. I then bought a set of S/S springs for a 3600lb car, but got two of the heavier right side springs. Wonder if that messed up their inventory! The adaptors have two mounting locations; the upper one put the car at stock/XHD...
Better shots from yesterday's local cruise night. Blue '66 Coronet is owned by a fellow club member. Need to use better camera and work on leveling the frame!
Only way to know if the heads can take the lift is to set them up and find out. I agree the stock springs should be replaced; that might be a best first step so you can make sure there will be no spring bind or retainer contact in your head setup. Once you have that, you'll know your max---my...
Saturday I raised the front end a bit, measuring from a flat surface at the center of the front bumper it went from 17" to 18 1/4" and the oil pan came up from 3 5/8" to 4 1/2". Measuring from the body seam front and back extremes, the difference was 1 3/8" and is now only 9/16".
The car...
I've been running my '67 Belvedere II with S/S springs and the original 318 T-bars although it's supporting a 440 up front now. The car's original springs seemed pretty weak, so I bought the XHD set from MP. No change in ride height, although it did stiffen things up. Next up was the S/S...
Dog dishes on black.
Actually, these caps didn't fit on the car's original wheels--different diameter caps required and I think '67 might be the transition year? Anyhow, 15x7's (canadian manufacture) from '80's junkyard vans and skinnier '70's 14" fronts fit the caps.
At the track...
I've got a 440 from a '73 Winnebago in my car, swapped on some ported 906's, aluminum 4bbl, TQ got a rebuild, first used a Comp Xtreme .488/.491 cam because of the factory pistons. Ran fine so I bought a Racer Brown .510/.510 cam which ran better (also swapped to 4.30 gears, though!) then went...
No cheap way that I can think of right off, a Holley Street Dominator fit my '67 Belvedere II using a Thermoquad and drop-style 14" cleaner assembly. When I decided to go a little further I bought a hood from a '66 Satellite and cut that one for a scoop (painted hood and scoop black). Neither...
