‘66 console satellite - driver side accelerator pedal clearance?

This will help show the full picture. What’s weird, and sounds like what you’re talking about same too, is there’s already existing console panel there covered over with this piece. The extra panel was fitted under the top plastic console trim like the factor console you see is. The console light was fitted to the outside of the separate piece. So the function of the light was unimpeded.
But the smaller hole around the pedal area baffles me what it is for?
But otherwise what else is the access to the shift boot area obtained?

OK - that looks good. I was misinterpreting the picture.

I believe there is a screw behind the console there that secures the console body to a floor mounted metal bracket

I don't have a 4 speed console but i wonder if your side cover has the correct contour next to the gas pedal? The reproduction side covers below look like they contour in towards the tunnel next to where the gas pedal would be.

That may be exactly it. A picture can be deceiving, but comparing the contour of how far in toward where the pedal is, the classic industries part appears a more pronounced indent than mine.
Before I removed it that same area had a noticable gap between the piece and the actual flooring. I just didn’t know if that’s the way it fit or not. I was ready to order a new carpeted cover piece anyway. Now it appears I’ll get about that 1” needed!
Awesome. Thanks for the photo. That’s helpful!

The console bodies are exactly the same shape regardless of trans and mount exactly the same

The only difference is how they were cut to clear the tunnel, OR not in the case of auto cars

Keep in mind the Repop console bodies are correct for 1967 thru 1970 ONLY

A 66 B body console is one year piece only, They are 2 pieces

Yep. You gave me the right source! The CI description photo is hopefully accurate enough to give me more hope it will fit like I need it to.

You said the console trim for 66 is one year only and 2 pieces? Do you know a source for the console side trim for a 66? I have the carpet but not where to get the two piece console trim.
The plastic console body itself is 1966 ONLY

The trim itself is 66-70 B body only and you have to find it used

Put a wanated thread her eon the board

Can you take the picture with more lighting? Will help if I can see how the carpeted console molding and flooring carpet meet. Is it all one piece of carpet from the floor/ pedal area up the side to the console trim piece?
Sorry, but the car is in winter storage 30 miles from here. Plus, I'm currently totally incapacitated with a broken clutch leg and foot, so it'll be some time before I even see it in person again. I don't know if the carpet is one piece or not. I think so?

Thanks and heel up brother. Get that clutch leg back in the game. Lots of shifts left!

Actually, mine may be over as far as yours. I can push it in a little at the bottom but it won’t stay and the front edge is tight against the carpeted tunnel at the front so it sits where it sits. Considering how close it sits to the accelerator pedal I’m surprised Chrysler didn’t add a vinyl scuff pad to protect the carpet.

The PO who put the carpet in didn’t get the heel pad quite right with the accelerator pedal - the foot of the pedal should fall on the heel pad. It’s an older carpet job that doesn’t match the loop pile on the console carpet I replaced a few years ago so replacing the carpet with newer ACC carpet is on my list of future jobs. That carpet in your first post could be original and correct with the pedal foot on the vinyl heel pad. Hang on to that old carpet when you get ready to replace it as it will show you how the factory trimmed and fit everything around the firewall and at the console.

Isn't the carpet originally glued and folded over the 4 speed cover?

I'm thinking the repro carpet is not fitting nearly as tight as OE. And the original cover Bleep Bleep is cracked and doesn't fit as secure and tight to the console as originally.

I can’t speak to factory fit but I bought Classic Industries side panel/carpet kit. It just doesn’t fit the floor contours well (enough). There’s about 1-1.5 inches gap between floor and panel for the area toward the pedal.

But based on @AR67GTX photos the actual finished fit looks identical to mine. I’m not sure yet I’ll keep the CI kit. The carpet match with existing isn’t real close of course.

For now I’m going just leaving it open.

That’s a Classic Industries console carpet kit but I think they get them from ACC which seems to be the only classic car carpet supplier anymore. The carpet just barely goes under the SS trim enough to hide any edge from showing and it covered OK on mine.

Yes about ACC and it’s prob as good as it’s going to get but panel fitment, and I have RED carpet so color match not so cool. I might just leave it off for now.

Red would need it all done at once to really match.

To get it to fit right, might need heating it to form it and really gluing it to the cover.
