FBBO TEAM,

I just got my 053 radiator shroud from Dante's for the 69 Bee with the attaching bracket. I removed the fan and placed the shroud in to get the fit and there are no issues there, but the issue came up about how to install the frigging attaching nuts. I'll add some pics of the side of the radiator and the opening and that of the nuts. They appear to be too wide to fit and should affix in a way that makes it easy to place the bolts in right?

......I also e-mailed Bob over at Glen-ray radiators, he'll know for sure, but if anyone else chimes in, well that would be great too. Also, I'm trying to figure if I need to stay with my fixed fan, or go with a thermal?

Sorry, I can't help you. I have the 2949054. It has studs attached to the radiator. The shroud slips over the studs and the nuts after that.

....god this one is a pain. The question is, do I bend the tabs a bit to get it to fit?

....the web has no answers for this one.......

You slide them in from the back so that the tabs are on the backside. They go in just the way they are shown in you picture. Work it in from the top to the bottom. It's easier if you stick a bolt in so that you can get some leverage on it.

MCODECUDA,

Thanks for the tip sir, but the frame of the 053 radiator looks pretty snug to the core. It is spot welded on, thus I do not think they can be attached that way, but maybe one has to slide them in from the bottom when the unit is out?

When I referred to the top I meant the top of the slot and hopefully you can fit the clip between the core and the bracket.

....sadly, there is no room to do this, which is why I was looking for the light in the darkness, so to speak, hehe. The core fits into the frame in a way that does not allow for anything to be fit in from the sides.

If you just wanted to try it out you could zip tie the brackets on and if it makes the car run cooler you could take the radiator and have them remove the side brackets then install the clips and reinstall the side brackets.

Team,

We have a solution!. The cage nut complete install on an 053 radiator has a real specific solution with the radiator still in the car. The access to both sides is fairly easy and cage nuts snap in, but there is a catch. One must pry them in from the front. Bob from Glen-ray radiators rally hooked me up with some correct install PICs, which I will add to this thread. The brackets whet on with no issue after than and the shroud soon after. I decided to stick to the stock fan, but would consider a clutch unit later if need be. 2013-09-15 10.46.02.jpg
