100 year blizzard bearing down on Oklahoma

We had a tractor dad's old 40 something chevy didn't do very well in the snow. But the tractor did.
not to mention going outside every few hours to warm them up, and put blankets on top of the engine! Then there was the frozen fuel lines, as the fuel systems were vented, so moisture got in the fuel system quite easily.
remember HEAT?

Dad worked for the railroad, somehow some brakeman left his smudge pots at our farm.

Expensive alcohol

Lots of snow huh.....

Being in the center of the continent the cold just sweeps down like a big trough. The same thing is in reverse with the heat in the summer. Just thinking about Oklahoma increases my accent 2X. Damn, I miss the fried chicken gizzards you can get in every quick stop store there. And the beauty of the Supercell Storms.

I have been under the impression most of my life that the SOUTH was warm in the winter. I figured that the old saying that the birds “Fly south for the winter” that it was warmer than it is higher up in latitude.
Out here in Sacramento, I’m pretty sure that I am higher in latitude than ALL of Texas and Oklahoma so WHY do you guys get snow and ice storms and I don’t ?
No, I don’t want any of that crap...I just wonder why I keep hearing of your weather events of cold and snow. I’ve been lied to or something maybe my teachers were idiots?
What the heck ???
You're seriously asking why the west side of California doesn't get winter weather events like a lot of the rest
of the continent? Come on man, you know why - at least I hope you do. :)

You "hear" of winter storm events in the SOUTH precisely because they're unusual - making them newsworthy.
This great country-wide snow "event" coming through, for example. We're bracing for impact!

Actually, no we're not....
in fact, nothing much of anything is predicted for even here in the foothills of the Appalachians, other than
some rain.

Nothing likes California, it's slowly leaning LEFT and pulling away from the rest of the country at a rate of a few centimeters per year. Eventually this movement will separate them from us.

What is in the news is only part of what I noticed. I watch the forecasts other times too. I have a friend in Alabama and have seen cold forecasts from there too. It is just a matter of thinking one thing for years, then seeing something contrary to it much later.

One thing is I would rather have a foot of snow and be able to move it verses the ice. We could be in the path of an ice event which there is nothing you can do UNTIL it decides to melt..

We got about 12" of fresh snow overnight and it's still snowing lightly. I have crazy neighbors. Someone has already been out with their snowblowers cleaning all of everone's sidewalks.

It just started here, supposed to get 8 in but we will see. I have my chili simmering on the stove. It will be good.

LIke a new toy to them.... They want to make sure they get their moneys worth ..

It looks like an ice storm in 3 of the major cities in Texas. Repeat of last year?

I bought a 2007 ram 2500 with plow last summer, and here i sit waiting! Damn it!
Maybe if I drove to okie land I could push some snow there?
