I need either a bolt on hood or bolt on 64 scoop. I just bought a 63 Plymouth and hood will not clear with m1 single plane. I like 64 65 scoop better. so I need to know where to get a good one not junk. I did google search and not as much as I had hoped for.

67.jpgI like the Max wedge style
I got mine from E bay20151209_112414.jpg54.jpg

I also ordered a steel 65 Hemi scoop from "Joey" The Tyn Man. It's been almost 2 years and I am still waiting (luckily I didn't need the scoop until now. I tried to reach him for 9 months so finally in December I had to give the local authorities out where he lives a call and they contacted him and he said mine was 90% completed and he would call me in a couple of weeks....he never called but I'm still hopeful and willing to give him a little more time as not to cause trouble.

Ya I knew that going in but he dropped off the earth for 9 months, disconnected his email and phone (I had no idea if he had an accident or even worse maybe he was dead). I found out that he apparently got his phone stolen or something and changed numbers but he still had my number and email and home address yet no contact, I also sent him 3 self addressed envelopes with postage paid to try and get a heads up. When I pay somebody in advance I would like an update or at the very least expect to be able to reach them. I didn't call out there to cause him any trouble but 7 months isn't 2 years.

The only scoop to put on that car is a 63/64 Max Wedge scoop as per Super-Be Ski's pic's, Not such a thing as a hemi 63

A Max Wedge scoop does nothing for clearance issues unless you have that intake, I needed to cut my hood to close it due to my carb set up. To say the only scoop that belongs on that car is a Max Wedge is pure BS! IMHO Max Wedge scoops are ugly! I ordered this one and had it within a week, bolt on.

Being a little closed minded, aren't we? Not all of us want to make our rides "factory correct". Besides, in all my many years I have personally seen only two real max wedges and tons of clones. To each his/her own. BTW, Blackheart is right; max wedge scoop does not help a single 4 barrel intake...

I think what Ozy means is the Max Wedge scoop is the correct scoop for the 63 if you want it the way the factory did it. I agree with everyone as who ever owns the car can put what ever scoop they want on it as its their car and they only have to satisfy themselfs. Myself I love the looks of the 63 Max Wedge scoop and I am glad as I wanted my 63 to have the factory correct look but thats because I love that look. But I have seen 63's with the 64 & 65 Hemi scoops which dont look bad on them either. The fact is either one the 63 , 64 or 65 scoop wont give you much more room if you use the original size. I do see alot of NSS racers using the taller 63 to 65 scoops for more room to use a modern intake that is higher and they need the taller scoops to clear the carbs. But to each his own. I did not want to use a taller scoop since I like the original factory look. But you can see in this pic of my 63 the Max Wedge scoop adds about zero more room. The 64 or 65 Hemi scoop will give maybe 2 inches more room with the factory size. I am running the Indy dual plane with a single carb and I am glad its a nice intake for a street/strip car as most single planes wont fit under my hood. So I can understand why some use taller scoops when they are trying to get the most performance they can out of it. To Mr Bagley I say use what ever scoop you like as it is your car and you have to be happy with it. Good luck with it. Ron

You call BS and then call MW scoops ugly ? So you have an opinion, that's fine.

Each to his/her own you said it.
So there is more clearance for carb/air cleaner with those HEMI scoops over a MW scoop ? I don't see it.
Just my view your car looks fkn great, you even have the MAXI plates :icon_keel: but I think it would look even better with the correct year/engine scoop.

Real MW.
Yes I had to put a 2" riser under my scoop because of Indy stuff.

Depending on the originality of the car I would consider trying to find a spare hood to do this to and keep the original hood in storage. Good luck.

Thats just what I did as I picked up a glass hood for $100 big ones. My Max Wedge scoop was given to me as I did a friend a favor and his dad gave me the scoop he had. I have this hood in storage. Ron

383man Ron: I love your car. I run the 13" max wedge air cleaners with a 1" spacer under the carbs. The 63 max wedge scoop wouldn't allow me to do that. With the 64 Hemi scoop I have plenty of height to run my combination.

ozymaxwedge
: As you can see, the center indentation on the 63 scoop doesn't gain you much height, and as Ron said, he isn't able to run a single plane intake because of that. Your solution works for you, and my solution works for me. I like them all...
Dave

Wow. Thats a whole lot of hood cut out there! Isnt it a bit flimsy now?

I chose to go with the Hemi design scoop. I started off with a 5" from VFN. I modified it so that it's a 4" now. A 3" would not give me the space that I needed for my Indy cross ram intake. I'm happy with it and I was able to seal the carbs up real nice to it. When it's time to race the air cleaners come off and I close the hood.

Great job on the scoop. I believe you started out with vfn's 66-67 Hemi scoop. And seeing how we are talking scoops, I make the A/fx scoop which is 4.5 inches high in the front and 1/25 in the rear, with a total length of 42" and has the curved back for the 64-65 cars.
