hey guys I need some help. I'm in desperate need of a brake booster for a 1964 Dodge with original power brakes. The retro kits everyone sells will not work, I have been down that path. I sent the booster to Dewey for rebuilding. I had to return it to him once because it wasn't repaired correctly. I got it back from him the second time, put it in, got one pump to bleed the brakes and the rod to the master cylinder broke. I'm very frustrated. Each time I send it to Dewey it is a 3 week turn around. I have an event scheduled for August 1st I need to have the car at. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It is a front disc rear drum car with a dual master cylinder.

If you have the Midland 10 screw booster like the picture above Harmon brake parts will fix it for $200 I have the same Midland and sent it to them and it was back in two weeks

From my experience, if you have disc brakes up front, you need the dual ballast booster. The single ballast that was in your 64 does not provide enough boost. Ask me how I know

So take booster Dewey off the list of potential rebuilders then. Did he send you M&Ms each time?

I don't know if I would take him off the list. I asked him to refund my money and he was willing to do that. Yes, he did send M&M's with each order. It may have been just one of those things. The brakes have really been a pain on this car, I'm considering taking my bible out and doing an exorcism in the shop this week! I ordered a new send of brake lines for it from Inline Tube, I also ordered a proportioning valve which seems to be bad. I have adjusted it all the way in and out and still can't get fluid to the rear brakes. I'm going to bypass the proportioning valve this week to see if that is the problem.

It seems like almost everyone is having trouble with Inline Tube's proportioning valves. I too had no luck with them. Tried two of them and couldn't get fluid to the rear brakes. I spoke with Cass at Dr Differential and he also told me they were troublesome. He provided me one from another Mfr and it worked properly. I don't recall who he gets them from. I would give him a call if I were you.
