1964 Plymouth Belvedere Project.

I bolted on the rear street lite wheels today. Not sure which is going to look better, the black 10" wheels or the 10" street lites. I think I'll have to take a pole!

WOW . . . what an incredible build . . . I keep checking back to watch the progress . . . Great job - Keep it up ! ! !

I'm SO ready to be done with my metalwork and at the point you are - putting it back together ! !

Conv67,
I certainly hear you. It really gets drawn out but you have to stick with with it! Eyes on the prize! And thank you for the compliment! There is such satisfaction in working away on these old Mopars!

Making progress on the 64. Lots of time being spent on the tedious assembly stuff.
Decided on the tach going here and made a bracket to hold it securely and look in place with the rest.
image.jpg
The one bucket went into place to measure where the belt bracket needed to go. The colors are starting to come together for sure.
image.jpg
The tach and shift light look pretty good next to the matt black dash top. With the engine harnesses I turned them back inside. Cleans the compartment up and still somewhat of a stock look.

Once the dash pieces comes back from plastic chroming the dash can be finished off.

A good time to buff the stainless and reinstall while I wait for an order from Joe S.

great looking looking build. Since you suggested a pole, I would stick with street lights but it depends on the look you are going for and the end choice is ultimately up to you. This is another one giving great inspiration.

Thanks for the input Super. Once I installed the stainless on the 1/4 it became obvious to me that the Steet lites are the choice. Without the side trim though both looked good.

I was told by a fellow that bought a 64 Plymouth Belvedere new in 64 that the Belvedere option was an additional $300.00 and change over the Savoy. Interesting.

The front bumper and fender eyebrows went on today. The 64 is starting to get that completed look. image.jpg

And yet it is the lower optioned cars that command the higher dollar 35-40 yrs later.
Do you have a full on side shot?

For sure Conv67, it is starting to come together. My parts shipment is sitting at my US shipping address now so a quick road trip on Saturday. And a wedge will be sitting in place within a few days!image.jpg

This car is truly disgustingly sick!!!!

Today's plan was to make a toggle switch plate and get the switches installed.
A spare piece of aluminum on the bench fit the bill. Job complete. Once the bezels get back from re-chroming the dash will be done.

With the electrical out of the way I figured I might as well start getting the motor and trans ready to "finally" reinstall.

Some good progress on the 64 today. Engine is bolted in tight, starter in place and wiring to it is routed securely. Once that was in place I slid the new 2" TTI Headers into place. These have to be the nicest fitting headers that I have ever worked with. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Nice stage to be at alright! She looks great. You've got a lot done in the last while. Won't be long now and you'll be burning rubber!

LOL Gdrill. Can't finish it up too soon, this is fun stuff and I want it to last.

Got the Hurst quarter stick into place today, cable through the floor and trans bracket slightly modified so that the cable cleared the TTI's.

Picked up some 3" tubing and mandrel bend pieces today. Time to start fabricating the exhaust, which will be simple. Dyno Max 17221's that will dump just before the dana.

Love to see a good build in progress.
Keep up the good work and keep posting, very impressing!
Do you use the 66 k-member? seems that the engine is located pretty near the firewall.

Good eye Kjalltrac. Yes it has the newer K frame. Lots of room at the right front corner of the oil pan and tight at the firewall. Along with that comes a modified trans mount.
You can see where I boxed the front and it holds a 1-bolt mount and I'm starting to build a driveshaft hoop that comes off of the rear.

Great build....Thanks for sharing! I'm doing a '64 330 myself, and I had to chuckle after you mentioned the thought that went into the paint scheme. I'm having the same trouble myself....Finding a look that hasn't been done 20 times.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Man oh man Hangem can I recollect that stage of the build, picking a colour. I was going to go white, citrus green, and even light blue.. Eventually I ended up with my combo. I ended up taking the approach of a quieter colour for the majority of the car and then have the red and the shiny parts do the highlighting.
Over in the 62 to 65 site in the car show thread there's over 70 pages of colour combos for you to check out. Good luck with that!

As for today's progress I got the fuel tank sump done and only one side of the exhaust fab'd up. Most of the day was friends stopping in and that was all good too. image.jpgimage.jpg

Exhaust system is done. 2 / 3.5" TTIs, 3" pipes through Dynomax 17221's and dumped. 6 of pipe, 2 180 degree mandrel bent pipes, 4 flanges and some cutting welding and grinding. image.jpgimage.jpg

It's been a few days since I have made any updates but there has been lots going on. The 526 is ready for the fluids and to fire up!
image.jpgimage.jpg

The underside is complete too with the fuel tank going up into place today.
image.jpg

Finished up wiring the 2 step to the trans brake, the line lock and some other loose ends today too. It's a bit busy but all easy to get at.

What an incredible build, this car is stunning and looking mean as hell. That Hemi sure sets off the engine bay with that refrigerator looking intake haha "Love it"!
