1964 Plymouth Savoy Build

Took the Savoy to Mopar’s in May in upland on Sunday, had a good time and it was a nice show.

I know this is not a b body Mopar but I’m excited about my 1962 Chevy Carryall I took to a Simi Valley Chili cook off and car show. It’s took Best of Show! Took over 20 years for my brother and I to restore it. It’s been in our Family for 3 generations.

Need some advice from members, The first 2 car shows I entered my Savoy in(MATS in Vegas and Spring Fling at Balboa park) 64 stock class and had no problem but the last one Mopar’s in May I also entered in the 64 stock class and the man at the registration table disputed with me on stating I’m not stock because of a hood scope(No stock cars have hood scopes) I still told him it a factory production race car offered by Chrysler with this option and was factory built. So I’m I entering the Savoy under the right class for a car show I’m technically not Modified. Any opinions will be appreciated. Thanks Chuck

no stock cars came with hood scoops? what is he talking about? he shouldnt be the deciding factor he has no clue

I would carry a book like Jim Schilds' one on Super Stock cars in the car as reference for these people who are not familiar with these cars.

Lol! That’s what I thought when he said that. And he is supposed to be the expert! Lol!
Sometimes even the experts don't know everything. Before Pandemic, I ran into Jim Schilds, the Mopar Super Stock book authour, at the Indy Swap Meet where he was autographing and selling his books. I told him that I had his Super Stock Dodge and Plymouth book and enjoyed it very much. He asked if I was working on a car, and I replied that I was restoring my Canadian 1964 Polara 4-door hardtop. He asked, " A what? ". I said 4-door hardtop. Jim said that he did not realize a B-body came as such a body style. I showed him a picture of mine, and he said he had never seen one before this.

i LOVE those B hardtop cars!!!!!! Beautiful!!!!!!
I assume they were only Canadian cars.
No, they were made in U.S. as well. Also made as Plymouth Fury. Always the lowest production body style. Mine is # 453 of 797 made in Canada. It is extra weird because it has factory buckets and console; a Canadian-only option. I have personally only seen one other in 40 years. Another forum member in Western Canada posted pictures of one he has in unrestored condition.

Went to Bg Bear Fun Run, Had a great weekend there. Always liked this show. Both they Savoy and the Carryall won a Trophy. It’s really a nice show with a great punch of people, and lots of different cars!

Also got my velocity stacks in and mounted, boy do they change the whole look of the motor. I’ll be taking it next weekend to Cop’s N Cars in Simi Valley.
