Hello all.
I previously purchased this 1966 belvedere convertible. The picture shows the fender tag. I need help in trying to figure out what this car really is. The same numbers on the radiator support. The door jamb tag is gone. Under the car the motor support is a k member and the rear end is a 8 3/4 posi sure grip with 3.23 gears. It has no power steering and no power brakes single master cylinder. Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you I thought the 5th digit meant what kind of motor "H" for hemi and the 361 letter "F" I think....and I thought the 6th digit was suppose to be a 6 for the model year but this one shows a 4? Any ideas ?

That is the interior trim level, NOT the engine. The complete VIN is not on a '66 fender tag, like they are on a '68-newer Mopar.

BDY - RH27 - Belvedere II Convertible
TRM - Interior trim level and color - High trim level, vinyl bench seat, black
PNT - SS1 - Daffodil Yellow (second character would be the same as the first on a convertible, anyway, since the roof is not painted).
The "B" stand-alone character in Paint is the Inner Door Paint - B = Black (this is NOT an "invalid" code). The top and bottom of your inner doors is painted Black.

Far as a VIN, you could have in '66, a B-body like this:

RP27G62100001 = Plymouth Satellite 2-dr convertible, 383, 1966, Hamtramck build plant, first car off that line.

That H4X is the interior trim level, NOT the engine. The complete VIN is not on a '66 fender tag, like they are on a '69-newer Mopar.

Now, in the VIN, the '66 and '67 factory service manuals are NOT correct on a few of the engine codes! This has been know for many years. "H" was 426 Hemi for 1966 only. The "F" is for a 361, which is what my '66 Coronet states, and has. "G" is for the 383. These apply to 1966.

As for the supposed "invalid" Door Paint, it is blank on a car with a full plastic inner door panel, such as a Challenger or '70-newer Barracuda. It is NOT "upper door frame", as that would be body color anyway on a sedan, or the color of the painted top in a second color. If it were "frame", wouldn't it be blank on a hardtop or a ragtop???

Thank you this clarified a lot....did all 66 belvedere convertibles come with a k member? My 66 does

That K-member works with a small block or a big block - no changes needed if you are looking to do an engine swap - unless you find a Hemi or late-model Mopar engine you are wanting to swap in.

ALL RWD Mopars have a cross member called a "K-member" or "K-frame", from around 1960 through 1989, with a couple of exceptions I won't go into. Your car has a K-frame.
