Hi, I'm hoping someone can help. I have a 1966 Dodge Coronet HT 383 auto. The car is in the UK. Last winter I replaced the engine harness and engine side of the bulkhead connector. The headlights, both low and high beam are now halogen and fed via independent relays.
The instrument cluster gauges including speedo were either broken or innacurate. These have now been repaired and ready to re-fit. This winter I have started replacing the dash harness and interior side of the bulkhead connector whilst I've got good access.

As the car is used in the UK the back up lights have been disconnected and the housings are now used as direction indicators with amber bulbs. The violet wires to the rear back up lights are now redundant as is the back up switch (auto box).

1.What does the violet and white tracer wire coming from the wiper switch terminal post B do? I've removed the violet to the back up lights but can't work out what the violet with white tracer does? It goes to the 'console connector' on wiring diagram.

2.Also why is it indicated as a dotted line on the schematics as is the pink wire?

I'm adding in a few circuits and removing those not needed.

Any pointers appreciated. I'm sure it will be a simple answer.

Thanks,
Lee

Im seeing them as console wiring.
If you have a manual transmission the violet striped wire is used as a reverse light and goes to a switch on the manual gear box. Which wouldnt be used in an automatic car. This is why its a dotted line in the schematic.

Since you have an automatic the wire colors are violet and violet/tracer and should be in hooked up to the neutral safety switch on the transmission. Look at the schematic on the left side you will see the " backup light switch".

Follow those 2 wires and you will see one goes to the wiper switch. The other goes to terminal 4 on the rear lighting harness. Follow it further and it goes to the back up lights.

The pink wire goes to the dome light. These are the 3 wires you are looking for. But the 3 wires are in a console connector which would feed the 2 console lights as well as the dome light.

The pink wire also goes to the brake light switch.

The items in the right side page circled in red are only used if you have a manual transmission. Left page shows the routing. And followed by the right page the back up switch wiring. left side middle of the page.

Thanks for the reply. A previous owner has removed the neutral safety switch so the violet and violet white tracer were tied back. The reverse lights too are now gone in place a direction indicators so the back up switch doesn't need to be wired in.

So that leaves just the one violet white tracer that goes to the console selector in my attached image below. Is this needed or can it be removed? I assume the pink and orange work as a circuit and the violet white tracer isn't needed?

This will then leave nothing on terminal B of the wiper switch. Can you see any problem with this?

I guess this doesn't help with your question, but you really should have a neutral safety switch.
Not a smart move to bypass it. I was almost run over by a car that someone had bypassed the switch.

I've worked out the wiring Thanks for the advice about the neutral safety switch. I'll try and get hold of one if mine isn't still fitted or broken.
