So heavy I couldn't straighten up for several hours after getting it out of the truck. Cast iron was cheap back then.A few more photos. Out of curiosity, what does a bare 426 block weigh……….
Also, should the valve covers be chrome or black crinkle?

If you look closely (in the right spots) you can see some black crinkle on mine. Also, should the valve covers be chrome or black crinkle?
It's a light crinkle. Find Richard Cranium's '66 Belvedere II thread to see correctness... @Richard Cranium
Nice score on a Hemi car, Allan. It looks very complete. It even has the $1000.00 gas cap still with it! Are those HP2 signs on front fenders? If so, built before Jan. 1, 1966. Also, nice color combo.
That is weird; it should have had the 426 HEMI signs on the bottom of the front fenders by then. Have the front fenders been changed over the years (accident damage?)? I inspected and verified a 1966 HP2 Belvedere II locally a few years ago. It was Resale Red at the time, but was originally mauve metallic. Built December, 1965.

One thing I thought was odd; the bright side trims were all chromed die cast, instead of anodized aluminum or stainless, as I imagined they would be. Has anyone else seen this?
No, they were die cast. I know the difference. In some places, they had the light freckles like chromed pieces get. I wonder if it was because of early production date? Most likely, they were buffed and they simply buffed the brushed finish right out of them.
Thats cool.My guess would be no…… but I didn’t sleep in a Holiday Inn last night….
