1966 Hemi Belvedere II Project

The dash frame appears to be painted with gloss paint which probably what was also used on the inner door shells. With the windshield out, now's the time to correct that, and also get the proper dash frame retaining bolts.

A LOT easier to do a headliner with no glass or drip rail trim in place.
Thanks. I’ll do that.

What color should they be? Semi gloss red?

Something they call suede lacquer which in general is a lightly textured, very low gloss finish, almost flat. Instrument Specialties sells pints of it for a price or some of us have come up with various substitutes. With the metallic red color you may want to go with Instrument Specialties and a detail spray gun. I did mine years ago with a flattened lacquer that I sprayed fairly dry to create texture - but hard to find anyone who will sell lacquer anymore or who has the proper toners to color match.

I failed to mention that the steering column was gloss paint in 66 but changed to suede in 67.

I remember a 66 Hemi Coronet in a large collector car collection near me with the mettalic red bench seat interior. The dash in it had been repainted gloss. It looked good but i also couldn’t get past the fact that it looked wrong and I was always surprised the owners didn’t correct it. But, it’s your car so you can do with it what you like.

I think the factory painted them suede is so sun or bright lights would not produce glare to the driver.

Is the entire dash painted in satin or just the top?
The entire dash - top, front, roll under. But steering column is gloss - same as door tops and bottoms.

Would the seat tracks from a “C” body (Windsor) fit a Belvedere?
No; floor pans have different contours. B-body seat tracks 1966-1970 should all interchange.

Im 99% sure seat tracks are 66+67 B body only.

I have a 64 bench seat in my 66 Plymouth 2 door sedan and it went in the holes and had no issue .

Now that I think about it I had a 65 coronet front and rear seat in the car first and I found the 64 seats and they were mint so I changed them out .
