I love large white things... planes, cars, sailboats, and girls. As long as they are "big and white!" I saw this car on the side of the road for a couple of days on my way home from high school. I loved it! Love at first sight! exactly what I had always wanted. The third day I stopped and left a note on it telling the guy "I want this!" He called the next day and told me it was his wife's car and she has a drinking problem and that is why the car was there and no it wasn't for sale. I was heartbroken, I already knew what I was gonna do with her and had emotionally take ownership of the car(I was 16, you know what it's like) That was October 1998. In early February of 99 I saw her in the sme spot as before and figured "what the hell" and left another note, the guy called three days later and told me the same thing, she got another DUI and no still not for sale. This was easier to swallow but still did little to deter me. I searched for 8 months looking for a 67 four door big block wagon, surprise, surprise none to be found in CA, and not in a 16 year old's budget either. In September of 99 on my second day of work(my first job) my truck broke down on the way home. It broke down directly next to the wagon that was once again abandoned on the side of the road. I called a tow truck and promptly started writing another note. The next day I received a call from "the guy" his song had changed! "Fifth DUI and I can't afford them anymore and I am tired of calling you meet me at the car in half an hour and she is yours." "How much?" He says "I need $600." "OK" I said. As I hung up the phone I about crapped myself. Grabbed the money and got a ride to the car, we did the paper work and all my dreams had come true. I brought her home and lifted the hood to marvel at my big block, and lady luck and fate mixed with a little Plymouth attitude caused the hood to fall. Luckily I was checking the radiator level so the hood latch struck me directly on the back of my head. I woke up with my mother screaming "are you ok" and hugging my motor with a fair amount of blood on it. That was the first, last and only time I have ever seen the hood fall. I passed her test though, I was worthy or stupid enough to be her owner. I kept her through thick and thin, girlfriends and thieves couldn't get her away from me, and I have loved every minute of it. I have started the restoration process, but due to stupid highway drivers I have no daily driver so she has once again been called to action. This makes it difficult to do any major work but bit by bit she'll get there.
