1967 Dual Snorkel Air cleaner

My 426W came with the Engine "Chrome Dress-Up" package, and it was valve covers AND air cleaner and metal PCV outer shield. Not saying the '67 did until I actually find proof, but an "Engine" will usually include all three pieces.
1967 440 in R/T and GTX had chrome valve covers only. Air cleaner was never chrome from the factory. From a 1967 R/T owner.

Welll I just figured out I have the wrong base for it. Here you see the base laying inside the cover
Anyone have a base??View attachment 1706830
A popular thing to do, was to cut down the large silenced air cleaner base to the same size as the unsilenced base plate. This way, you could get more air to the filter, but more importantly, you could hear the "waaaaaah" of the carb secondaries when you nailed the gas pedal.

2016 at the Mopar Show near Minneapolis, I saw a original 67R/T auto. Original owner, purchased in California while he was stationed with the Navy. It had chrome valve covers. No other chrome .

Dave from post 22 said the same, so I defer to both of the posts to agree. I know the 426S Wedge had one, just wasn't sure about this one.

What's it cost to strip the chrome off?
I don't think the chrome would even need to be stripped off to refinish it. The chrome doesn't seem to be flaky so IMO it's just like glass beading chrome mirrors, priming and painting them like the factory did...

Not a dual snorkel but 64 426 Wedge had both chrome.

I don't believe that the 68 C Body was identical looking. The C Body lid has a different indentation on the top and would not fit the B Body HP pie tins. The tall one pictured fits the hp pie tin.

In this c bodies post you can see how similar they are. 13 indentations, dual oval snorkels, pie pans, etc. At a glance they look almost identical but they're taller and have a different base plate. I've found a couple of these on my hunt for a real 67 dual snorkel.

On those imperials, it was a pretty rare option to have the dual snorkel/ dual exhaust pkg. But they weren't an A134 pkg ( magnum code iirc)

The cbodys had a large indent for the hood torsion bars. They're kind of an asshole to get on.

Yes, that’s true but it was revised for 67 to just include chrome valve covers with a painted air cleaner. A few of the early one were even turquoise engine color.

Opps - didn’t see another page of comments already addressing it.

Thank you!

Here’s the one I’m using now. It’s the tall one from your pic in #7 post. Original pie tin to the car, but not the lid.

Looks good. What car are you using it in? I need one for my 67 Coronet but was worried i might not be able to shut the hood due to the extra height.

This. 67. Original 440 car.

I have several bases. So the whole thing is a mix and match deal.

Just using the taller lid on the correct base would likely put it into the hood, IMO.

I have the same air cleaner however mine had the trumpets hacked off before I got it. I ditched the factory base as I felt it retained too much heat around the carb. I bought a Mancini drop base, and was able to use a taller filter and still fit under the hood on my Charger.

Same. I’m using a similar but different drop base. On mine, the base is a smaller diameter and therefore it does not seal on the lid’s rim.

This is my hybrid silenced, unsilenced drop base. Made by someone in Canada on my car. I added the unsilenced holes. Fits larger neck Edelbrock AVS carbs
