1967 Dual Snorkel Air cleaner

Can’t tell if that is 13 rib.

it's 11........ like mine; evidently a 68

I measured mine yesterday, 3 3/8 with 13 ribs. Too bad somebody hacked the trumpets off before I got it:rolleyes:

I’m glad I found one for my GTX before the prices got so crazy high.

Picked up another dual snorkel but the measurements are different then the "chrome" one that I first posted so now I am confused!! What are the correct measurements for a true 1967 Dual Snorkel??

I believe your chrome/polished metal top is correct for 67 gtx/rt. The black taller one is probably for a cbody. However, it looks like the base plate with your black one might be the correct base for 67 gtx/rt.

Images taken from nicks garage. Air cleaner and base on the left side of photos are supposedly correct. Does your base look like the one on the left?

Tall one is C body.

The 67 Dress up was just Chrome valve covers. The base up above is from 66 or earlier cleaners. I do have some dual snorkel air cleaners ( 3 of them) for sale on this site. I also have a base on sale for a 67 unsilenced cleaner as well - it is very rare. I am getting more time on my hand so I will be putting more up for sale soon.

I retore Mopar air cleaners and other parts. What condition is the inside of your cover? Does it have a lot of rust? Thx

FYI, the dual snorkel you have listed for sale below is a 68 c body air cleaner. You say it's about 4" tall. The consensus is the 4" are cbody and 3 3/8 are b body. It's definitly not for a GTX or R/T.

Yes, that is true but someone stated that the number of indents on the top is different for a C Body, so it is hard to say. I will have some more coming up soon that are 3 3/8 though. Its too bad someone chromed the one above. I have about 20+ air cleaners to restore.

It's not hard to say if it's a 4" top. The 68 C body also had a dual snorkel with 13 indents and oval snorkels. It looks nearly identical to the non CAP 67 GTX and R/T air cleaner but it's the taller 4" top and different base plate. There are several great examples in the c bodies post below.

Welll I just figured out I have the wrong base for it. Here you see the base laying inside the cover
Anyone have a base??View attachment 1706830
That is what we used to do to make tthem unsilenced. It will still work just fine, since this is what Chrysler used under their no-snorkle unsilenced air cleaner lid. The air filter element sits on the base, and the lid sits on the top of the element, sealing it. Now, air is drawn in through that open space between the air filter element and the inside of the lid, instead of just through the 2 snorkles. Guaranteed to go " WAAAAH " when you punch it!

When reading through the Coronet R/T section of my Canadian 1967 Coronet sales brochure, I was surprised to see in Engine/Chassis Standard Equipment, a reference to " turquoise double-snorkle air cleaner with aluminum " 440 Magnum " name plate ". Over the years, I have seen a couple of these, but figured the owner did this. Chrysler must have produced a few of these, but upon seeing how dorky they looked, changed over to black wrinkle finish.
