1967 Satellite "barn find"

Great score man! That looks beautiful.. love the color. You have some good looking kids there, looks like you already have a full crew to get your car road worthy.. Good luck!

My friend came over today and saw that I haven't done anything lately. To prove a point I'm sure, he grabbed an impact and in less than 20 minutes had the front end disassembled (of course it helped that the bolts were clean and not rusted). While the fenders are in good shape we still wondered about the price of reproductions. I did a search here within FBBO as well as a google search including the usual spots (AMD, Shermans, Goodmark) and have found zero-point-zero results. Is it true that there are no new fenders for the 67 Satellites?

Next photos should be on the rotisserie. *should*

Thanks, Mark

Got it up on the rotisserie this past weekend. Now starts the fun of removing the undercoating.

Great car. BTW, you might be pleasantly surprised how easily undercoating comes off with just a spray bottle, kerosene, a putty knife, parts brush and rags.

awsome find! why would the po have torn down a car in that good of shape? shoulda just done the drivetrain swap and enjoyed the car.

Real nice project your doing there with a full crew of restorers too. Love them all the kids and the car. BTW wanted to ask you where did you get your Rotisserie and how much?

Kerosene huh? So far it's worked well with heat and a scraper. Of course I haven't gotten very far, but if kerosene speeds it up any I'll use it. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks! My 11 and 8 year old boys removed most of the interior, they're big helpers. We'll see how they do with scrapers in their hands. As far as the rotisserie it was made, not bought. My buddy and I made it (99% him, 1%me) out of box tubing and a few trips to Harbor Freight (jacks / castors), Tractor Supply (pins), and Home Depot (galvanized pipe). We have around $600 in it. It rolls around with hardly any effort and the car is balanced so well that it spins around with one hand. He's been told he should take orders for them.

Not hardly any love AT ALL for 66/67 if it aint the same part as 68-70.

Some trim and lenses are available.
Interior is available.
Sheet metal...not so much.

I'd have never guessed that was originally red.

It's a start. What a smelly, messy, tedious job. But its a great feeling seeing such nice metal underneath.

Nice work so far, looks like a great car to do a resto on!

Awesome start to a great project! I couldn`t help but notice the miniature V Rod on your cabinet. I havn`t seen one of those before. Where did you get it? Love those bikes!

Please ignore all the junk stacked up around the car - LOL. I hear enough "hoarder" jokes already! The V-Rod is remote control and actually runs really well. A friend gave it to me a while back. Motorcycles (full size) are another passion of mine - not as "family oriented" as a classic car addiction though.

I spent another couple hours with the torch and scraper today. Getting closer everyday to the media blaster.

I know what you mean! Motorcycles and cars seem to go well together. Don`t worry about the stuff sitting around in your shop. My shops not much better, it`s just nice to see that I`m not alone! Lols,, Now I have to find one of those remote control V Rods! Good luck with the car. You found a good one there!

Progress seems slow but I believe I have enough for an update. I finished removing the rustproofing/sludge from the underneath and all the nooks and crannies. We continued to remove all trim and misc. pieces/parts from the body, doors, hood and deck lid. We took it down from the rotisserie, loaded it up and dropped it off for media blasting. I have a local guy who came highly recommended. He uses a mixture containing aluminum oxide on the underneath to remove rust and plastic beads up top to keep the heat down and protect from warping the panels. I stopped by after a few days to deliver a "cleaner" fender I got from fellow FBBO member (thanks Jamey) and took a couple snapshots of the car in progress.

We have started getting the suspension sorted out so we can make it a roller when it comes back from media. The plan is to split the tubs and widen, install the suspension, cut out the tunnel for the transmission and get it rolling for the body shop to take over. I've added a few photos of our progress here as well as some of the parts we've collected over the summer.
Front suspension: AlterKtion
Rear suspension: Martz 4-link
Transmission: Keisler Perfect Fit TKO600
Rear end: Dana 60, Detroit Locker, Moser axles
XT subframe connectors

:icon_pray: OMG,,,, That is going to be one SWEET *** RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!

Stopped in at the media blaster today to drop off a few other parts. I took a few more photos of the car as it continues to give up it's paint.
