1967 Satellite "barn find"

that is the straightest cleanest 67 i have ever seen! nice foundation

With all the mock-up, fabrication, welding and grinding done we turned our efforts towards prepping for the upcoming body and paint work. We got down into all the cracks, seams, corners and hidden areas that the media blaster just couldn't get to. We used small screwdrivers, scrapers and cleaners to clean out the remaining undercoating. We then turned to body hammers and dollies to straighten and repair the seams and weep holes. Then came primer and caulking in every seam before covering the underside in primer. Finally, the underneath is complete and painted.

Checking clearances and measuring. (this is just a random wheel from another vehicle)

Not a lot to report. We spent some time test fitting the suspension and played with a new toy - a plasma arc welder. Plans are to make our own tank out of stainless and this welder seems to be the way to go. Of course I'll update the thread with progress on the tank when we tackle that project. (Scroll back for photos of the trunk we prepped for our custom tank) For now we're going to finish up some odds and ends while we wait for our turn at the paint and body shop.

That suspension looks good. Aughtta make that car ride like a dream.

Makes you kind of drool some! I have to agree, the suspension is great! I love the looks of that rear end sitting in that, looks like it can take some punishment and not be fazed any!

I want to watch the finish on this one

Me too!!!

It seems like we've come SO far. But we had a conversation the other day and reality set in - we started listing what was left and it got depressing real fast. But hey, it's about the journey not the destination right? Well that's what I keep telling myself anyway. We're having a lot of fun (as long as I ignore the bank account).

Seems the lack of money does put a damper on builds most of the time.. But someday you'll look back at this and remember that it was just a delay, while you look at the finished art you'll have in the garage. I love the build part myself as much as driving one, if it be a quick one or like one other that about took everything to finish even testing my marriage but the day came.. and my next project is going to be a long one if it works out, but even with money so in demand, im going to enjoy it im sure. keep thinking positive, it'll come..

Incredible work! Keep it up!!!!

What a great find, you have a great find and have fun.

Any updates?? Love the progress

Not much going on. We've gone as far as we can go and we're patiently waiting (not really) for our turn in the body shop. He's running behind on another car. The most recent photos I have show a little progress from the last update. The car is now 100% covered in DuPont 615s self-etching primer and the bottom and interior are covered in Chassis Black.

Currently I'm doing an inventory and getting the engine ready to go to the builder maybe this week.

Good news / bad news. Bad news is that there is no progress. Good news is that the shop is now ready for the car (they've had the doors, fenders, hood and deck lid for some time already). So... we loaded it up and delivered it for body and paint. Not sure when I'll have the next update but I'll be adding photos when there is something to show.

Loaded up - car and rotisserie.

It will be worth the wait. Look forward to seeing the GM eater on the road!
