1968 Coronet 500 Project

I have your Dr. Diff disc brake kit ordered finally.

Jim, I like the decal you ordered. Should look good and you can give Bill that Pep Boys air cleaner as I remember him saying how much he liked it.
I’ll give him BOTH of them I have!

I place the pep boys air cleaner on Jim's car when he's not looking. Of course, only at car shows where we compete.

A little fun this Easter Sunday 19....???? can you guess the year :)

Glass delivery from Bo and Sarah at Copper State Classics in Phoenix this afternoon! I have a gallon of the right adhesive all I need to do is order a new vinyl top and get a spray gun from Harbor Freight and I will pull the old scratched, chipped, swirled glass, install a new vinyl top without bubbles and put in new crystal glass! I hope it fits nicely.... They got it from their normal restoration supply in Los Angeles. It does not say AMD so fingers crossed.

I also found a place in Phoenix that restores and sells parts to buy a new windshield and rear glass. They are delivering a few to Sierra Vista in the next few weeks and offered to drop them off on the way by at no charge! New glass with no shipping! While I am at it I am going to replace the vinyl top since the spray adhesive was a bad idea as you could not control how much went on well. There are a lot of bubbles where it is ungluing. No one has mentioned it but it bugs the crap out of me. Also I can try again at getting the front windshield not to leak.....[/QU

Well I spent about a hour with a trim tool at the back window trim seeing if I could unclip the trim.... It was tighter than I expected with the new clips..... I did not actually unclip any of them.... geez I don't want to disassemble it again...... I should get the expert here to help me get started repairing.... @Billccm

Lets say the effort I put into removing the trim was about zero :) ..... I did more staring and enjoying the warm day than actually trying to make progress!

Since you are just replacing the vinyl top, can you just remove the sides and top of the rear window trim? Maybe not risking damaging your paint. .........................MO

I don't see any risk to damaging pain in getting the trim off. I was just not into it.. Besides since I painted it I have all I need to touchup anything may mess up.

Put my heart and sweat into it after work. Exactly 90 minutes after walking in the garage. The new back glass is shaped perfectly! Seems to be quality stuff.

Tomorrow night is clean up. The new top is on its way from Classic Industries. I need to see if Steel will warranty the windshield glass, they seem proud of their quality..

Since you have the trim off that separates the vinyl top from the quarter panel , what size are the holes for the clips? I have to drill mine. Thanks ......................MO

I am interested to see if Steele stands behind their product. Did you decide on a replacement gasket?
