I have a 68' Dodge Charger we thought it was a 383 V8 but the ran the dash VIN tag on Oleride.com and it said the car was a 318 car! We have looked in different places on the motor for the engine tag but cant find it! Where are the engine code located? How can I tell which motor the car has in it? Thanks

man you have to be able to tell a small block from a big block. if not, do i have some water front for you.

I heard they made a 318 big block! Is this true? I'm pretty sure that its a 383 car though! But I wanna know for sure!

If the distributor is in the back by the firewall, it is a 318 or other small block (273, 360). If it is in front on the passenger side angled towards the fender, it is a big block.

What, did some chevy guy tell you that? No such thing.

Chrysler did make a 440 Hemi and the Slant 6 Six Pack, but they were pulling your leg when they told you there was a 318 Big Block.

Hope you figure out your motor before you start buying parts. :ufo:

i think he's referring to the to the 318 poly "wide block" ive heard it called a big block before, the LA 318 replaced the A 318 in 1967 on all cars except exports i believe.
