1968 Plymouth GTX

Greatly enjoy reading your posts. They take me back almost 20 years to when I was deep into re-doing a 68. Your rear bumper pic makes it seem like it was just yesterday.
Thanks!

Does anyone have a picture or explanation of how the front license plate mounts to the bumper?
My online searches have helped at all.

Two push in plastic "nuts", two screws and a rubber bumper so it doesn't rattle.. Believe the Plymouth is just opposite to the Dodge. Plymouth rubber bumper top, two plastic inserts lower.

Okay, thank you!

Do you have a source for them? I can't seem to find any kits for sale.

They sell those in the "HELP" section of your local auto parts stores. Very common stuff.

Took the fuel tank out of storage and shined a light down inside. Quite a bit of surface rust along the top.
I thought about using Phosphoric acid but think it might be better just to order a new tank.

I used the Eastwood kit to clean and seal my original tank 20 years ago and I am still very happy with it. However, on my 1967 Barracuda, I just bought a new tank (the original one had a crack in its top section). Installing the new tank was the easiest way to go.

A new tank is around $200 shipped, if that fits your budget it should be an easy decision. You won’t have to worry about it for as long as you have the car…

License plate bracket mounting to the rear bumper question.
Rear Bumper Installed.JPG

I noticed the raised area where the spring loaded mounting bracket goes has 3 holes. The two outer holes are for the mounting bolts but what is the center hole for? Is there another bumper besides the two in the upper holes?

Nothing. The hole gets partially covered by the bracket.

Okay, I am now trying to install the rear license plate light assembly. Can't seem to find it in my Service Manual. Anyone got a diagram or pictures as to proper installation?

I had to move the snowblower to get a look, my ‘69 is the same way FWIW…
I remember those things from way back when I lived in upstate New York.
Today we had 65 degrees and sunny, but it is dry, dusty and nighttime temps are in the low 20s.

Yep that’s how the B body lights mount. I checked my 68 A body Dart as it’s up on the hoist here, a touch different but same concept.
