1969 Charger R/T resurrection

It does have a lot of good things going for it, I just didn't want to restore another 69 Charger. One is enough in my lifetime lol. Now maybe if it was a 69 Bee........... Maybe the new buyer is a member here and we can follow along on another rebuild.

congrats on your sale, bye bye to another one

Yeah I know - it sucks, but the most I was offered for it locally was $2500. And it has been sitting here for sale for a couple of years.

"Wow" that seams like a pretty hefty sum to get out of it, I would likely be a hoarder if I had anymore cool Mopars haha. People just don't have the money to spare in this Obama depression which is probably why so many are going overseas.

I can check another item off the list - the exhaust system is DONE. I used the TTi kit which seemed to be the most bang for my buck. It comes with everything needed (except tips) including hangers and Dynomax mufflers.

I wanted to use an original looking tip instead of the TTi one, so this is an Accurate Exhaust model with the only difference from stock is that it fits over the tailpipe instead if inside.

So this is what had to be removed.

In addition to cutting the tailpipes, I had to remove about 2 3/4" from the length of each h-pipe section. I suppose this makes up the difference if you are using factory manifolds and headpipes, or headers with collectors. The only thing not perfect was that the h-section only slid together about an inch instead of the 2.5" that it is belled for. I called TTi and was told this would be fine, so that is the way it is. I used band clamps for the first time on the front 5 connections and also lathered the joints with Antisieze so everything will come apart if needed. The rear clamps that come with the kit are heavy duty for certain. They sure don't resemble the stock hangers, but work fine.

Hunt what did that TTI kit run you if you don't mind me asking. I am going to have to buy a similar kit for my 69 R/T also. Thanks.

The kit with collector adapters, h-pipe, mufflers, tailpipes, 4 hangers, and 5 standard u-clamps was $578. with free shipping from Chicago Connection. It is also all mandrel bent for better flow unlike the original style.

Thanks Larry - you are the greatest :icon_salut:.

That is one great looking exhaust system. The price was a good deal. In 08 I bought a Corsa for my challenger SRT8 and had to wait for it to be made and cost me $1800.00

Well son of a gun...looks like TTI moved away from using all U-clamps. Sure wish my TTI Exhaust would have come with your style of clamp when I ordered last year. Lot better clamp that isn't as prone to exhaust leaks as well as not crushing the pipe, (which make them an absolute pain to pull back apart). Gotta say H2E, Exhaust looks great!
