1969 Charger R/T resurrection

Well son of a gun...looks like TTI moved away from using all U-clamps. Sure wish my TTI Exhaust would have come with your style of clamp when I ordered last year. Lot better clamp that isn't as prone to exhaust leaks as well as not crushing the pipe, (which make them an absolute pain to pull back apart). Gotta say H2E, Exhaust looks great!

The kits from TTi still come with the standard u-clamps Will. I bought the band clamps separately from Summit. Just figured with my luck there is a very good chance I will have to take the exhaust apart for some reason or another.

Good call Joel! They look dang sharp and very functional!

Exhaust looks great! You'll be ready in plenty of time for Mopars in the Park May 31st-June 1st.

That would be great if I could have this thing running by then, but I don't think I would drive it there without a bunch of run time to work out any bugs.

Great idea H2E . . . I've got to keep that in mind when I get to that point in my build . . . that's a great solution ! ! !

THANKS !

LOL. I thought we already went over all the problems I seem to have whilst working on these cars.

Yeah . . . H2E . . . but you're finding them all NOW, so when it's time to drive it there won't be anymore left ? ! ? ! ?

At least we can cross our fingers and HOPE . . . ( smile )

At the rate you going you'll have it running and plenty of reliability miles on it by June. :headbang: Plus, were is your sense of adventure? Taking an unproven combo out for a road trip, sounds like a blast to me. Hell your only about 125 miles from Farmington. About the the same distance for me and I drive my junk there every year! ha ha ha

well again looking very good ,have you had a chance to get your rack mounted yet and hanging on the wall

Man that exhaust looks outstanding! Can't wait to hear it run!

You're not the only one.

That set was actually shot by my 14 year old son this past season. I was up in the tree with him and watched his shot through binoculars. I think that is the 5th one he has got with me observing. I used to be obsessed with hunting, but now get more of a kick taking the boys out and watching them do their thing :headbang:.

The way this year is going, I think we might still have snow on the ground at the end of May :thatswck:. We'll see how everything comes together though, it would be a nice trip to break in the motor.

Piece by piece it's all coming together. It has been a long time since a dash has been bolted in this car, and I must say it looks a lot better than when I bought the car.

That dash does look good sitting in there like everybody has said. The steering wheel really catches my eye.

It does kinda stand out doesn't it? There sure is a lot of black on this car, the wood almost looks out of place lol.

I've got a black one if you want to trade:upside down::grin:

Been working on the engine compartment some and am doing as much as possible before I bolt the front end together. Looks like Speedy and myself are at the same stage so some may be almost duplicates of his build. I ended up having to use a 1" shorter belt on the power steering pump on account of the cooler. The lines from this were bumping into the vacuum canister with the called for belt.

I also used the factory style fuel separator, but don't think I would if I had to do it over again. I originally had a pump for a 69. It had a 5/16" inlet and a 1/8-27 outlet thread. After receiving the hard line set, I found out that the threads on the short line was 1/2-20. So after a little research, I found that a 1970 pump has the correct outlet threads for the short line, and as a bonus the inlet is 3/8 which matches my fuel line to the tank. I had quite a time getting the bends correct on the short line, but it turned out great in the end. I just have to make a line going up to my Holley and the fuel lines will be done.

I found a spot for the control box that was out of the way and for extra peace of mind made up a #10 ground jumper from this to the block. I am waiting for the engine side tach wire which I apparently forgot to order with the rest of my harness'. Once that comes I will be able to wrap everything up neatly.

I had boughten a white rump stripe for the back of this car much to the disgust of my better half :shruggy:. I recently ran across this picture and thought maybe I could live with this look. I called up Performance Car Graphics to order a matte black stripe. He remembered me and asked why I needed another stripe. I told him we changed our minds and immediately he says to send the white one back as there is no need to buy another. He says this happens to him frequently and will be happy to exchange it. Really - I was not expecting that at all. I figured I could just sell the one I didn't use. This is another one of those great companies that goes out of their way to make people happy (even if I didn't ask for it). So in the end, the wife will get just what she has always wanted. A quad black 69 4-speed Charger. I guess it doesn't get to much better than that.
