1969 Charger R/T resurrection

Yes, it really is starting to look like a car again - kind of exciting :eusa_dance:.
Yea, a brand new car !!

Had to quit for the day because my arms, wrists, and fingers are killing me. It's a bugger getting old.
I can relate, I'm 58,. work my butt off at my job,. so when I get home there's not much left for my car.
But my doctors have recommended that I stay at it. Working on the car that is.:laughing11:

I agree Hunt, the pistol grip just doesn't look right in a 69 console. Car is looking awesome and I'll bet you're anxious for spring and nice weather like all the rest of us who have had it with a cold winter. damn, where's that global warming the libs promised us?

No pistol grip for me on this one Bryon, I like the original style simulated wood knob on 69's.

Oh I love those too. I just had P grips on the brain this morning and forgot your car was a 69 .. don't know how but I did LOL I think it was front the black 70 Interior shots I was looking at before that.

Is that some kind of hint? At least let me make sure the doors still fit after all the metal that was replaced on this thing before I go buying a ticket in a neighboring state lol.

Now that you mention it, we sure don't hear to much from Al Gore anymore with these long cold winters.

Let me think this through . . . hummm . . . you're right H2E . . . it's the other guy that you're going to blow their doors off ! ! ! Not your doors . . .

Hate when I get that all mixed up . . .

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets those senior moments :VB toast:.

Oh sorry! Did I post that link??

Hell yeah its a hint! ha ha ha

What are you going to do for refinishing the buckles or are yours nice already Elk?

Got the carpet pretty much finished up, except I may put a dab of glue in a couple of spots. Even though I don't think the car with the option, not being a SE, I went all out a bought a pedal dress up kit - just because I think it looks cool  Trunk divider with insulation, a-pillar moldings, inner and outer rear window trim moldings also found their homes. I had a couple of runs in the clear from the holes where the vinyl top moldings go that we originally figured would be covered by the moldings, but they didn't quite. When my paint guy was here putting on the rear window trim, he fixed that up for me. I told him he had balls of steel - taking a razor blade to that beautiful paint job. I wouldn't have believed how these were repaired without seeing him do it. Scraped off the run with a blade, buff & polish = can't even tell there was a blem.

Also been straightening up the wiring now that I have all the parts. Took Speedys advice with a couple of stainless clamps on the valve cover bolts.

I've been playing around with a way to mount the coil because with the Performer RPM being so tall, I need a major drop base on the air cleaner and that in turn hits the coil when mounted in the standard location. I am also thinking of removing the electric choke and having all the choke air horn milled off the carb for better air flow with the drop base.

Awesome and yes balls of steel for sure! Glad it cleaned up and you are happy with it. I've always liked the pedal dress up and plan to do that also .. look very nice. There should be one for the the loud pedal too or do you already have that one on

Yeah it is there - just doesn't show up well in the pic.

Haven't decided yet. I actually have a couple sets and could make one nice set out of the 2. But it doesn't look like a guy can remove the buckle? It looks like a pressed in pin is used.

Almost forgot about getting my nice new radio installed also.

This is a pic of the spun aluminum drop base air cleaner on a restomod charger the guy helping with my car did. In all his research he said this was the furthest drop available that still allowed room to breathe. I'm looking at something similar for my car not sure if you would like something more stock appearing. If you want any info when I order mine I can let you know

I would have loved a stock air cleaner - then I could use the new 440 pie tin I have. Right about now I wish I would have used the Holley SD intake, or at least given it a try. But it is to late for that now. We found a base with a 1 1/2" drop that should work. Do you know the brand and part # of the one you are looking at?

I'll get the info off my buddy and let you know! And I hear you on that there's nothing I would have liked more than to have my Coyote Duster oval under my hood but we all know that's not gonna fly :(

I would absolutely run it if you've got it and it fits with the carb and intake .. they are more of a pain in the *** to take off than regular cleaners with just one wing nut though. If you have one get a repop A/G set-up too
