1969 Charger R/T resurrection

I would absolutely run it if you've got it and it fits with the carb and intake .. they are more of a pain in the *** to take off than regular cleaners with just one wing nut though. If you have one get a repop A/G set-up too

Not to hijack H2E's thread but it seems like a common item to come across and I also like the K&N X-Stream style with the open filter element on top. from everything I've read Tallhair it's doubtful that I'll be able to make mine work but if I can I will.

Wow everything's looking great Elk! :icon_thumleft: Those little clamps do keep the wiring nice and tidy.

And as for the air cleaner, on my Chevelle (454, Dart highrise manifold) I ran a cheap autozone 1 1/2" drop base with a K&N Xstream filter-top air cleaner like Goon mentioned to help keep the flow up. Worked awesome and I'll be pirating that setup for the Charger too. But I agree the 440 pie tin would look cool :shruggy:

Since tallhair started talking about shifters, I figured it would be a good time to get mine installed. The car came with an original green console in awesome condition, but against the advice of some, I sold it and bought a new black one from Classic Industries quite awhile back. I had heard the repos didn't fit as nice as originals and the rumors are correct. I spent a lot of time getting the door to fit decent. It seems like the opening from front to rear is about 1/4" less than it should be. After much adjusting I got it to the point it will work but there isn't much if any gaps fore and aft of the door. Also the 5 screw holes for the hinge mount are molded about 1/4 inch to far down. I made this work by filing out the hinge holes to get enough adjustment. So I would be leery of buying this one if you want a plug and play model. I have heard good things about the one Tonys Parts is selling, so it must be from a different manufacturer?

She's looking good Elk, seats will probably be in on the next update I imagine? I'm envious watching you tear threw the reassembly but that's alright "can't drive mine until Spring anyways" haha.

Look great elk and thanks for the review on the console ! I'll be wary when it comes time to get one myself

I am going to hold off on the rest of the interior until I get the doors on the car. I want to install the door windows so I can make any needed adjustments to the quarter glass before installing the rear panels and seats. This might take a bit because I haven't dug the window assemblies off the shelf yet. They will have to be cleaned, painted, and rollers replaced if needed. I think that will be the last parts I have to take care of (fingers crossed) as far as refurbishing.

The homes stretch you say ??? I don't want it to end for selfish reasons .. love the slow tease it has been

After seeing that interior I want a wood steering wheel and shifter now. It looks really good hunt. I can imagine you are chomping at the bit to get it done. Does it have the new car smell yet?

I am so jealous I'm going to explode..:tantrum:
I hope someday to know the joy of finishing touches.

Yeah, a year ago I didn't think it would ever get to this point. Once you get yours painted things move along a lot faster.

Ha - the only smell it has is the scent of $100. bills being thrown out the window. Correction, maybe that should be $1000. bills LOL.
