1969 Charger Restro - Now my turn

Well, went to see the car today, it's been a few days and some things are getting worked on. My body guy is working hard, but he did have to take some time off. He got a nasty cold and he has been trying to shake it off. He still amazes me with his work. So the pass. side quarter is welded on. You can see by the pictures that once he went to the rear window channel he found some rot....what a shock! lol
But he made up some pieces and is starting to put them on. So here are some "before and after" pictures.

Looking good man! That color's gonna look really sharp broken up with the black stripe and top

Well, it's been awhile. My Body guy had to go to work on some other items, but he got back to mine for the past week. I went up to see him last week and saw that the drivers Quarter was welded on and the door jams were all wire wheeled down.

Then I go up yesterday and see it outside looking like this. Nice to see.

He also got the new shock tower welded on. He told me to come up this weekend to grind down all the spot welds...oh joy! Just what I wanted to do, but it is progress.

I have been working on other things, like taking the axles out of the rear, painting things and the ever so popular.......ordering parts. Hope to have some more pictures soon.

Well, I can't believe that it has been a year since I posted those pictures. My body guy got caught up working on other things, but he is working on it almost everyday. The pass side is almost done. Should be finished by the end of the week. Going back up there Friday. I get a chill every time I go see it, I pray that it will be in paint in a month...we will see.front fenderweb.jpgprime side2web.jpgprime sideweb.jpg

She definitely looks ready for some color! Im sure it will bring a smile when its on... Nice work!!!

Well, it's been some tome since I have done anything to the car. I had some time last week to work on it. I have more pictures, but a least its an update.
It's still on the rotisserie. Me and my helper were wire wheeling the whole underside of the car. I also got the LCA's welded up with the stiffening plates.
The engine is all done ( a few small items to add) ( just used a spare carb on it to break it in. I have a brand new 850 going on it)
The rear end is almost done, just need to add all the brake parts. More updates soon.....I hope.

well I got the grille finally finished. I think it turned out nice. You will notice that I have added the 68 headlight bezels, I know 69's did not have them, but I like the look of them. Most of the time the headlight doors will be down any way.

I went up to my body guy today and saw that the bottom of the car is completely painted. We also installed sub-frame connectors. All of the seams have been seam sealed to give it a smooth llok.

Well, we are making progress. almost the whole car is in prime. The hood was just done, just have to finish the deck lid. Then the whole car will be block sanded. Paint is not to far off.
By November I hope. In one of the pictures, I brought the front grille up to see how it fit, made some small adjustments, otherwise it fit nice.

well, still working on it. Since it is so cold out, I have been playing with the instrument cluster, getting it ready. I blasted the housing and painted it, now putting things back into place.

OK, I did about 50% of the block sanding ( my body guy handed me the block and showed me how he wanted it done.) Mostly the easy parts, he wanted to do the curves and the like. Plus wire wheeled the engine bay......my arms are tired!

That's looking real nice ,ya that sanding n wheeling will take its toll on you, but well worth it in the end:thumbsup:

It looks close to paint. I am anxious to see it painted.
I like toe look of the 68 headlight bezels on your 69 grill. It looks like the way it should be.

Looks real good! nice job on it! can't wait to be at this point with my bird! keep up the great work!

Ok I guess I do not give as many updates as I should be doing. A lot has been done. I had the steering column redone, I also sent the power steering box out and have received that back. Started to put the k-frame back together.
But the best news is we have blocked sanded the car twice now, so he has to block sand it one more time before paint. This weekend we put most of the moldings on to test fit them and put the doors, hood, fenders, deck lid and grille to make all of the gaps look good....and dam look good they do! We also put the "R/T" emblem on the rear. The vent window frames with the glass is also finished. I will try and get more pictures soon.
