1969 GTX....The T stands for tetanus

And eager to work on stuff I started on my dash. As i am single I can afford to do this on the dining room table without the fear of being beaten senseless lol

My dash soft pieces are in great shape, no cracks and minimal distortion on the face piece.

And here is everything coming apart. There are some splices and random wires that will need to dealt with. I will be asking questions on wiring later if the shop manual doesn't cover it. At least there is no sign of fire.

And welded up and dressed. Much better.

I took it out back and scrubbed it down and will clean it up a bit more before spraying matte black epoxy. To be continued.....

Got my car back from the blaster. I was confused when he told me the price.....$392!!! He said the old paint flew right off lol. Granted he didn't do the trunk or the roof and left the e coated panels alone, but wow. Didn't get any pics before I put it away tonight after getting about 70% of the media cleaned up. A few pin holes of rust in the pass side floor, front and rear and some in the pass side drip channel. And the pass fender has a skim coat of bondo, backside feels pretty good so probably a minor scrape. The headlight area had been touched (which I knew) so I will need to fix it. Besides the rust, the car is very straight. Here are a few pics I took while awaiting the tow...

Been busy cleaning up the media. I may have 90% of it and found out running a DA sander on the roof really shakes the stuff loose. Got the media out of the trunk extension area and welded them to the quarters finally. It was easier getting media out with the bottoms loose. I am about there. Also running the sander on a few areas the blaster didn't get to. Going to patch a few pin holes in the pass pans today and another vacuum and air out to see where any media might be hiding. Also going to get my new hinge pin/bushing replaced before priming everything.

Progress is been going slow, doing a bit here and there after work. First thing I did was patch the driver side kick panel area which had a half dollar sized rust hole and fabricate a new driver side front wire run cover. The old cover was rusted out and new ones come in a set only, plus they are $100+. It's under carpet so this will work fine.

And I have been messing with the weld seams. Filled the quarter/roof seams with all metal and topped with Rage Gold. Still working on them but it is pretty close. Also working on getting the quarter panel patch seams smoothed out. Same fillers as above but I am getting it smooth with a 16" block and sticky sided sandpaper. This adhesive paper makes it go so easy. Once I have a good base then I will epoxy the car. Still on the fence with a color but I will probably get the new B5 blue.

Also have my dash about ready. Everything cleaned up, wiring checked, new bulbs and sockets. New glove box lining, map light lens, glove box lens and a nos modified 3 speed wiper switch. The thick black wire was rubbed through the insulation and I suppose this is why most of the bulk head connectors are melted around this connection. I plan to solder in a full length wire and run it directly to where it goes without the spade connection in the middle.

That is the paint they used on mine. They don't have a recipe for B5 so you will have to give them something to match to, or so I was told. I bought a pint of PPG B5 to give to my body guy to match against.

Got enough cleaned up and prepped so i shot some epoxy in the trunk and passenger compartment. One good coat, enough to finally get the seam sealer in place. I had enough mix left over that I did the rear end and roof as well. Some fish eye but it is going to get sanded out. Kind of nice to have it in only 2 colors now lol.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Been working on getting pieces in primer, seam sealer, body work, etc. Kind of piecemeal but it works for the time and space i have. And as soon as I decide to lay primer the temps drop to the 50's at night so I have to move stuff indoors and work or let dry. Did the doors outback and the hood in the driveway. And the wind is howling today so no primer. I'm going over to the GFs house later for dinner anyway.

But I got the doors primed (inside and out) and the underside of the hood. Also had to re seam seal the underside of the hood as the beads had cracked loose so it is still under my makeshift weight as it sets up. Stuff is still soft so I guess it takes a while to cure. Also got most of the interior and jambs seam sealed. And fixing random stuff I run across like a split edge on the front pass fender well and a hood corner that needed a bead ran.

Also working on getting the driver side rocker straight. There were a few patches so it was wavy, getting really close though. Still a long way to go. Here are some pics of my mess lol.
