1969 Road Runner facelift

A friend stopped by the shop last night and was excited to hear I was going to go to mopars in the park. Then when he finally understood that I mean to drive this car down there, he thought I was nuts lol!!

"It's not the destination but the journey that counts"
We had that in one quarter window of my Charger when my brothers and I took it to Mopar Nats in Columbus in 2000.
The other qtr window said "If this car aint movin' pull us to Columbus!" It was a flawless trip. You'll do fine Dave.

more blocking tonight.

then I got side tracked and shot some of that base I picked up 2 years ago to see if I could live with it on this car.

I just cant do it, I shot it over black e-coat to see if it could end up dark enough over a black sealer. It's just not close enough.

It will be nice for another project though.

The phone camera flash really screwed that picture up too, it's nice, it's just not right.

So are we back to square one on the paint Dave? Or are you going to mix a batch and get it lighter?

No we're fine.

This was a stock color I had purchased from kirker paint a couple years ago (before I decided I wanted to match the original T7).

I just wanted to spray some of this kirker stuff over a black base to see how close it was to T7. It's a nice color, but it's not T7. I still have the paint formula that we matched to original factory paint on my car and we'll go with that.

What's the color and code on that? It almost looks close to the color that goes on the wife's volare.

I'd have to do a lot of sanding to get back to that look. I think i'll just keep going towards the T7 lol!

Well I have a couple of hours to sand on the car this morning before we go to look at a house we are considering buying. So, I will go dust myself with block sanding dust, come in, take a shower, go look at a house, come back home and hit the sanding blocks again. I should probably put the wheels on the car and roll it outside today, supposed to reach the high side of 60 degrees today.. Boy it's been a long winter.

driver's door has been assing my kick...

Never saw it coming, cruised around the whole car with the sanding blocks and got snag'd up on that driver's door. I got it, but it took some time.

Looking great Dave and I love your comments .. "you have way"

Looks great Dave! Only a month until the road trip and your thinking about buying a house? You are a glutton! ha ha ha

P.S. got my wristbands for Mopars in the Park on Saturday!

Well I did get some good work done over the weekend but I stopped early yesterday to have some family time and bbq some good food. The doors are off the car again, I decided I'd do final primer/sealer stages with the doors off. Then I'll jam the color inside engine bay, inside trunk, underside of trunk lid, inside the doors and door jams. Then I'll hang the doors one last time, mount the trunk lid, mask all jams, mask engine bay and shoot the car exterior with the doors hung. I guess I might even lay the hood in place before spraying color.

:icon_pidu:well dave looks like you're getting there hope you make your deadline :icon_pidu:

I don´t know if I got this wrong but is it you they call the Sandman?
