1969 Road Runner facelift

Wow, that compressor looks like it can take a lot of work time, Good luck in picking up steam and moving ahead!

Shoot...Dug up this audio for you to play while sanding off the birdie...

Ah well, would still be great to use for any kind of metal/audio warfare you may wage down the road. Completely hideous song. Like pistol in the mouth hideous.

Thanks guys.

Yeah the wife is pretty excited. She already took the day before the show off from work for a travel day.
So... We ARE going!!

Really looking forward to meeting those of you that will be making the show.

I may be driving a primer gray 69 RR if I don't get it into gear with my project, but one way or another we will be there lol!

Like I told hunt2elk in a PM, I'd like to find a water park or something fun for my boys while we are down there, don't get me wrong, they will be in heaven at the show, but just something fun to do after hours with the kids would be cool.

skim coat and sand the fender... repeat, repeat, repeat...

I am one with the board...

progress, you got to love all the sanding time...LOL... looken good

I just decided to take a vacation day tomorrow. I'm gonna make it a 3 day thrash on the bird.

That's about it lol!

I clipped some paper on the old IR air file just to remind myself of how bad I hate the damn thing, then I put it away and grabbed a hutchins speed file block... slow but steady and straight.

It was one of those days... Work my azz off, lay on my back in the sanding dust... Arms are just hanging of me. And it doesn't look much different in a picture.

Sure is, a little blocking of the fresh stuff I skimmed onto the drivers fender tonight, then I can poly prime, and block some more lol!

Dave your post reminds me of another awhile back now and i quote
"Thought this was kind of a neat pic......So, to the guys doing your own blocking/sanding, just when it feels the bones in your hands are about to break and someone drove a railroad spike in your elbows...Keep sanding!! and then sand some more..

It pays off:"

And this is the picture he showed to give us the inspiration, i don't know if this helps you with it or not, but its meant to help you go on knowing your time is getting closer! Your work is showing, and it does look great.

Thanks Ron...You're like our in-house restoration thread dewey decimal system. Anytime, anywhere, you can reference information or pictures at any given notice..lol Impressive!

Block/sand work's looking good Dave. Ah the joys of it all. I'm sure all the hard work you're pouring in will pay off tremendously in the end. Good to see another one getting the treatment it deserves. Have a good weekend pegging away on your Plymouth, i'm sure the rest of us will.

Thanks guys. Yeah my shoulder was popping, arms burning... damn!

But when you run that board across the surface and expose those minor low spots... 8 to 10 mils in paint thickness I suppose.. well now is the time to glaze in to bring it all level. The polyester primer will happen fairly early today. I have some glaze filler blocking to do this morning then some cleanup and masking of tires/wheels and engine, wipe it down and shoot with the big 2.2 gravity gun.

Then I have to find something to tinker with while it's drying. I suppose I can clean the back glass and get it ready for installation, maybe shoot the white single stage urethane I have for the roof and I suppose I could go visit my buddy at the body shop and have him mix my T7 base coat for me. I know I said I'd shoot with the doors off the car but now I'm thinking I will try some soft edge foam tape (cord style) to mask my door/fender gaps and shoot the base with the doors on the car. I'm too nervous about mis matched doors beings it's a metallic that I've never shot before.
