1969 Road Runner facelift

my tach needle moves, it just doesn't read correctly. It could be related to my fuel gauge issue I suppose.

Thanks Gpuller, I WILL be buying one of those.

There is a electronic conversion kit sold to let your tach read correctly with electronic ignition. I had one installed by Auto Instruments and another by Dash-Worx.

I brought home a new shop item last night.

Replacing my 15 yr old compressor. My old one was a sams club 2 stage pump on an 80 gallon tank, aluminum pump with steel sleeves.. I think I paid around 700 bucks 15 years ago and although it has held together I have grown to despise it. Loud MF'er, at around 1500 RPM pump speed it is loud as hell and makes a bunch of heat which adds to the moisture in the air lines etc. Last I checked it with a CFM formula in the 100 psi range I was making about 11 CFM. The new one runs around 670 RPM on the pump, draws less amperage and pumps around 16.5 in that 100 psi range.

"Winning!"

Way quiet too, I love it. I'm gonna fill my coffee cup and head out to the shop to give the new air smasher some break in time.

Later!

I put one of the fenders on the car.....

As long as I had the blaster out today I cleaned up the hood hinges for some primer too.

This fender hardware kit... do the long clips go at the bottoms of the fenders ahead of the doors? Ahead of the rockers?

Nice looking equipment you picked up Dave. How was the first day of smashing air?

Really nice, it had no problem keeping up with any of my sanders and it did a good job with my small sand blaster too.

Much quieter, I really like it.

well i have to say this has been a enjoyable read.i will be starting on my 69 in next few weeks.its a pile of bent up rusty parts but i have been looking for one for a very long time.reading this has made me feel closer to getting my old car home. you do great work. the color is ok but with the white top............MAN its nice, i like the top. cant wait to see more.

Welcome to the forums sickandwrongcustums!

Thanks very much.

Guys like propwash, hunt2elk, donny, matt, superfreak and all the project guys that air the project laundry here would probably agree that it means a lot when someone new comes in and says nice things and relates you project to some excitement or encouragement for their own project.

Wow that was a terrible sentence lol!

Coffee is perking, I can hear it in the kitchen, I'll try to get the words flowing a little better this morning lol!

It's fender day!! Woooo! I'm so happy to have fenders hanging on my old plymouth again! Now I just have to get to town and pick up a handful of fender washers to shim up the top rear fender areas where the fender joins the cowl.

noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! save the bird!!!!! :laughing7:

car is looking good!

No way, I am no longer tolerant of artwork on this car lol!

Spent the rest of the evening setting door, fender, hood gaps.

Then did some shop clean up and started planning the paint sequence. I think I will paint it with the doors, hood and trunk lid off.

Guessing you already know this but make sure you paint the doors upright how they hang on the car.One of my pet peives is looking at a different shade on the doors.

yeah we were eyeing the doors for hand points so we could hang em the same way they go on the car.

Even still I'm nervous about painting them off the car beings it's metallic.

Sure has come a long way and its looking good!

Looking great with the fresh fenders Dave. I agree, bird has to go. Airbrushed roadrunner looks like a half stoned cypress tree anyways..lol. I'm sure you'll do good on the paint. Flow from one panel to the next and she'll turn out great.
