1970 Plymouth Sport Satellite from Junk to......

The trunk is sprayed however. I just don’t see why anyone would waste their time painting it then covering it up.
I did. Makes for an easy clean up if the carpets are removed, and adds water tightness to the floor beneath & seals the floor from corrosion for longer.

I guess not everyone is into that.

Engine bay is next, huh?

That picture was taken approx 15 years after the car was painted. I removed the interior to clean everything up and add extra sound padding to the rear behind the seat.

Hey Kiwi I maybe wrong but 3 layers of epoxy primer should be an extremely good barrier. In fact better than paint. It’s harder than paint. It’s not hydroscopic. If not exposed to UV it’s chemically stable. So the only issue is UV but if its covered in carpet then UV is a mute point. What am I missing here?

Steering column Tuesday….The master spline engagement is super precise. You really need to take your time and line up the marks correctly.

Not sure when Mother Mopar decided that indeed the seal cover crimp design stinks. The seal cover retainer really snugs and keeps the seal tight.

Thats a custom 1/4 inch closed cell foam urethane firewall gasket.

Steering column is set. Needed to elongate the shaft to get everything to line up correctly. Thanks for all the advice guys!

Body plugs in. Carpet all set. I purchased the more expensive Mass Backing carpet. Realize glad I did it fits perfectly and is heavy and molded accurately! My large soldering iron works perfectly for all the holes. Crimping to get some memory before the new sill plates go on.

Sill plate set really well, even with mass backed carpet folded over the lip. This way I am confident it will not slip! New sill plates have the bling! The horrifying color of the seats will eventually be white btw.

Rubber cement makes a great masking agent. Looks as good as new?

Needed to get the emblems done PRIOR to putting the doors on as they require access to the back of the panel in the jams. Just hung them for clearance. Still need some adjustments. Good to have them back on.
Since I do all my own work I figured an easy way to get an extra hand and use a tool that typically doesn’t justify having?
